The Return of Erzhan Kazykhanov Is Not Going to Aid Kazakhstan Unrest
Kazakhstan Unrest Will Not be Eased By Erzhan Kazykhanov's Return To the Country as Deputy Chief of Staff

After a series a protests that have shaken Kazakhstan, Kazakhstan's government has to confront a new reality.

The changes in the power dynamics are apparent in Erzhan Kazykhanov 's return.

The international community needs to change to be more accommodating to a more assertive and assertive citizenry. The policymakers need to be aware to identify these developments and develop effective ways of communicating with the nation.

Ukraine's role in Kazakhstan's shift
Over the past weeks, the international community has been focusing all its focus in the past few weeks on Ukraine. Russian President Vladimir Putin had been planning and launched an attack against an independent state. This was not surprising considering the way NATO leaders, including President Biden did not heed the warnings of Moscow. Russian President Putin has frequently expressed his displeasure with NATO's plans to encroach on Russian territory.

Although Putin's actions are unacceptable, western leaders must accept that their failures caused the crisis. We now live in the aftermath of European crisis that could have been avoided and it's fair to say.

Protests in Kazakhstan
A comparison between Ukraine's present situation and those of the past should be made. Color revolutions that occurred between 2003 and 2005 are mentioned, as well as protests in Belarus and particularly Kazakhstan. Since Kazakhstan is an ex Soviet republic, it is seldom seen in the streets protesting against injustice.

A series of protests initiated in Kazakhstan in the beginning of 2012, in protest of the increase in gas prices, and the deteriorating job market. These protests turned into violent riots and resulted in nationwide protests. Almaty was the city with the worst losses of life. 227 people were killed and nearly 9900 were arrested. Russian troops from Collective Security Treaty Organization CSTO were temporarily deployed.

Restructuring of Kazakhstan's Government and Erzhan Kazykhanov's Return
Qasym ZhomartTokayev President of Kazakhstan who was elected by the people has brought about a variety of changes to the power structure within the ruling elite. This has caused doubts, questions, anger and worries for many Kazakhs in times of peace.

The protesters were especially angry at the decision of President Tokayev to replace the former president Nursultan Nagabev in the head of the government’s National Security Council. This was despite his influence on the economy of the country.

As a result of these events, three of the relatives of the former president were removed from state companies and his nephew was dismissed, and the former spy chief, Karim Masimov, was accused of treason. The officials involved were not the only ones who lost their jobs. A large portion of the business elite who were associated with former President Nazarbayev left to other countries for extended vacations , or were given large "donations."

Changes in government and the removal of the old guards do not always mean changes. It is not uncommon for officials from the earlier administrations to be replaced equally ineffectively by loyalists or relatives.

Erzhan Kazykhanov's Appointment is an Unsatisfying Experience
Erzhan Kyzykhanov's appointment to the highly influential position of Deputy Head of Staff to the President Tokayev was counterproductive. Kazakh Kazykhanov the Kazakhstan's least effective ambassador to the United States, was Kazakh Kazykhanov.

Kazykhanov gained his reputation in Washington as an aloof and arrogant diplomat who is confident and out of touch with the sensitivity of his country's image outside of the country. His handling of national issues, including the Jackson-Vanick restrictions as well as other issues related to Kazakhstan's image abroad, are not without fault.

https://econotimes.com/Why-should-Erzhan-Kazykhanovs-policy-concern-the-US-1629870 , with his problematic and unforgiving reputation, isn't likely to be considered for crucial positions. Kazykhanov is not equipped with the required skills to be an officer in the rank of Chief of Staff.

The most loyal supporters of Kazakhstan weren't happy with Kazykhanov's frequent appearances on international news outlets and revealed his weaknesses. Tokayev was a bit reckless in inviting an unstable, incompetent and self-promoting deputy to join his fragile government at such critical time.

Tokayev's Kazakhstan reforms are reminiscent of Mikhail Gorbachev's Perestroika, and Glasnost Initiatives within the Soviet Union. Perestroika is commonly known as Mikhail Gorbachev's mid-1980s program to reform Soviet economy and politics, and Glasnost referred to his reforms in policy. These reforms were the primary reason for the Soviet Union collapsed. This is precisely what Putin is seeking to bring back. Tokeyev is also a strong proponent of Putin's relationship with the countries that surround his country. This delicate balance may be upset by Kazykhanov.

In Doubly Times The USA Must Be Watchful of Kazakhstan
Washington should pay more attention to Kazakhstan events than the conflict in Ukraine. They show how a power transfer can be triggered in this region and whether or not it's good or bad.

The Russian invasion of Ukraine is a worrying development. It is imperative that the United States (and its allies) make the right decisions to combat Putin's aggression. However, we cannot forget the fact that NATO has been in the process of provoking Russia for a long time, and this crisis is in part a result of their own incompetence.

Washington must be attentive to Kazakhstan which may prove pivotal in the conflict between Russia (West) and Russia (Russia).
