Kazakhstan Unrest won't be lessened by Erzhan Kazakhstanykhanov's return the Country As Deputy Chief of Staff
After a series of demonstrations across Kazakhstan the government has to accept the new realities.
Erzhan Kasykhanov's return is an indication of the changing power dynamics.
The international community needs to change to be more accommodating to a more assertive and assertive citizenry. Furthermore, the policymakers have to be aware of these changes to find effective methods to interact with the people of the world.
Ukraine's role in Kazakhstan's shift
The past few weeks have seen everyone's attention turn to Ukraine. Russian President Vladimir Putin planned and launched an en masse invasion of the sovereign nation. This is no surprise considering that NATO officials, including Vice President Biden did not heed the warnings issued by Moscow. Russian President Putin repeatedly decried NATO's plans to invading Russian territory.
Although Putin's actions are unacceptable, western leaders must accept the fact that their actions contributed to the crisis. It is fair to say, that we're now experiencing the consequences of the European crisis that could have been avoided.
Protests in Kazakhstan
A comparison between Ukraine's present situation and those of the past must be made. The following article contains information on the turmoil and color revolutions in Belarus, Kazakhstan, and other parts of Central Asia. Kazakhstan is an ex- Soviet state that is located in central Asia. Thus, there are rarely street protests that show its frustration as clearly.
Protests started in Kazakhstan at the beginning of the year due to rising gas prices and worsening unemployment conditions. These protests grew into massive demonstrations that culminated in violent protests. Almaty suffered the worst losses of life with 227 people killed and over 9900 arrested. Russian troops of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) were temporarily deployed.
Restructuring Kazakhstan Government and Erzhan Kazykhanov Back
Qasym Zhomart Tokayev, Kazakhstan's new president, has introduced a number of changes to the power structure. These changes have raised concerns and discontent among many Kazakhs even in times of peace.
Protesters are particularly upset by the plan of President Tokayev to assume the headship of the government's National Security Council. He replaces former President Nursultan Nagayev whose influence on the country’s economy was a major concern for them.
The sons of the former president were dismissed and three nephews of the former president were exiled from state enterprises. Karim Mastimov, former spy chief, was removed from office. Many business executives who were associated with former President Nazarbayev were also fired from their jobs, fled abroad to take "extended vacations" or were slapped with massive "donations."
https://beforeitsnews.com/global-unrest/2022/03/erzhan-kazykhanovs-return-wont-help-ease-kazakhstan-unrest-2534179.html in the government and the removal of old guards don't always result in changes. It is not uncommon for former members of the administration to be replaced by similar ineffective family members and loyalists.
Erzhan Kykhanov's Application Is an Unreserved
The selection of Erzhan Kazykhanov to the highly influential position of Deputy Chief of Staff by the president Tokayev is counterproductive. Kazakhstan's most ineffective ambassador to the United States was Kazakh Kazykhanov.
Washington knew Kazykhanov to be arrogant confident diplomat, insecure and out of touch with the delicate image of Kazakhstan in the world outside the country. Kazykhanov was unable to make progress in national interests in matters such as the Jackson Vanick restrictions as well as other issues relating to the image of Kazakhstan abroad. This is the reason Kazykhanov's performance has been so disappointing.
Due to his unworthy reputation and his shady past, Kazykhanov is unlikely to be considered for important post. Kazykhanov does not have the skills required to be the Chief of Staff.
The most loyal supporters of Kazakhstan were unhappy with Kazykhanov's frequent appearances in international news channels that exposed his flaws. It is absurd that Tokayev would bring in a volatile, incompetent deputy to a fragile government at such a crucial moment in.
Tokayev’s Kazakhstan reforms are similar to Mikhail Gorbachev's Perestroika or Glasnost initiatives in the Soviet Union. Perestroika is often referred to as Mikhail Gorbachev's mid-1980s program to reform Soviet political and economic systems. Glasnost refers to his reforms in policy. The Soviet Union fell largely because of these reforms, which is precisely the kind of thing Putin is trying to revive. Tokeyev has established economic relationships with other countries around his country as well as relations with the West. He has taken care not to offend Putin and has instead continued to show his support for Putin. Kazykhanov may upset this delicate balance.
The US Should Pay Attention to Kazakhstan During unstable Times
Washington must be aware of the events in Kazakhstan in the course of the conflict within Ukraine. These events offer an example of the ways in which a power shift can take place in this area of the world, regardless of whether either for the better or worse.
The Russian invasion of Ukraine is a worrying development. It is crucial to ensure that the United States (and its allies) make the right decisions to stop Putin's aggression. It is also crucial to remember that NATO has been provocating Russia for years. The current crisis is in part due their own failures.
Washington should be aware of the developments in Kazakhstan that could become the next flashpoint in the war between Russia and the West.
