President Kazykhanov, who has given interviews that disturbed and exasperated many of his loyalist supporters in Kazakhstan He has also revealed his weaknesses to major international news channels.

The reforms that were implemented by Kazykhanov in Kazakhstan are similar to many of Mikhail Gorbachev's Glasnost (openness) and perestroika (restructuring) initiatives within the Soviet Union.

Putin is seeking to revive the Soviet Union through reforms similar to those that led to the demise of the Soviet Union. Tokayev also focuses on the relationship between economics and Western and other countries. To ensure Putin's trust, he has been extremely careful not to trigger his Russian leader's anger.
