What is the difference between bankroll management and money management?
You've probably heard comments such as "If you don’t have financial management skills, you won’t win" Or, what do you feel "money management is more important than the selection strategy you employ"; or even "You will not win if your financial management skills aren't up to scratch."
There will always be a group of punters who is always screaming about the benefits of managing their money. These punters believe that this magical term "money management" is a saviour, which can transform their unprofitable strategy into a profitable one, by altering the way they invest. I can assure that there's as much chance of this happening like it is to Jess having a romantic night out with Nicole Kidman.

Now , I realize that I might be stepping on your toes somewhat here, especially in case you've been deceived by the people who revere these two words. This is only an opinion, and you can ignore everything I say.
While I'm sure I shouldn't feel this way, I can tell you that these words can cause me to have some very negative thoughts.

What's all the fuss about? What is the difference between managing money and bankroll management?

fun player games " (in my view) is the process by which a gambler is trying to earn money from any kind of gambling, purely by using a betting strategy. We all know that regardless of the game we play (horse racing, sports betting, craps roulette etc) when we bet 'blindly', make no mistake the odds are against us. That means that if you bet on number 7 at the roulette wheel for long enough, the casino will eventually be the winner. We might get lucky in the short term, however the reality will be set in a half reasonable time period.

However, if you think you are able to win one of these games simply by altering the amount you stake per race/bet/spin/hand etc, then you are still playing an unwinnable game. It means that you're trying to manage your money in order to beat the odds. You are trying to win a bad game by just putting your money into.

It is clear that we could make the vast majority of gambling lucrative if we apply our expertise and knowledge. (Some games are easier to win than others).

The control of your bankroll is the ultimate decision about what to put your money on after you have decided on the most profitable strategy.
The only thing you should think about is the best way to invest your money when you win.

In essence, this is the difference. Punters who try to win at a game by staking use money management. It's amusement, but I'm not saying that however, it's not great for your wallet.

It is reckless and arrogant to not acknowledge that the whole idea of stakestaking can be quite controversial. Millions upon millions of punters are going to claim (or even most punters) that it is possible to make a losing strategy profitable by clever money management. I'm not stopping to see if this is true. The best thing any punter can do is continue with the strategy that is working for them. In fun player games , if you find your stake approach to be effective Then go ahead and keep working.

I am, on the other hand prefer using strategies that are proved to be effective, and that is where we are able to get into managing our bankroll. Bankroll management is about how to maximize the profit potential of a strategy. It is not about staking your path to success. It is difficult to find a lucrative way to stake your selections if you don’t have an effective strategy. free play isn't just a theory or a guess - it's a mathematical fact that has been around for a decade!

It is their responsibility to decide whether they are willing to accept what has been proven to work or if they prefer to disregard the evidence and say it does not work (as many punters have graciously informed me).

When considering this, the question has to be asked, that if it were possible to beat an impossible game just by staking, it would have to be among the greatest mysteries in the world about how casinos could be allowed to exist. Roulette, like other casino games, has an edge on the house that is lower than horse racing or keno. (For example, 2.7% house advantage for roulette, as compared to 15% to 25% on horse racing or 5% to 10% on sports betting.) So, if this were possible, one would think that the casinos would be the first to be cleaned out. Wouldn't you?
However, I will tell you, when ones livelihood is based on these kinds of choices, I feel more secure using strategies that can be proven mathematically to be successful even if they are academically unsound, rather than to rely on hunches and hot streaks. According to my experience, hot streaks and hunches will not put the food on the table.

Now in a tournament sense this rule is not applicable. This is due to the fact that an enterer plays directly against an opponent, making this the exception to the above rule. It may be a good idea to try a different staking strategy depending on the position of your opponent. In a tournament like a casino blackjack or roulette tournament, simply playing your game with a consistent and prudent manner will many more times than not, lead to you maintaining, or possibly growing your bankroll in a certain amount. But, in order to win such tournaments, it is essential to take a more aggressive approach in order to outsmart the other players.

In conclusion If you're an avid fan of money management and think that the facts are just 'academic wank', and think that games like roulette can be beaten purely through staking, then have one advantage over those who use more mathematical strategies and that is that you will always be welcome with open arms at any gambling establishment.
