Proposal for the RLCS

RLCS Season X was a very LONG season, spanning throughout the Fall Split, Winter Split, and Spring Split, and a total of 9 regional tournaments + 3 majors. All for the build up of determining which teams qualify for the World Championship. Then they cancelled the World Championship for multiple regional championships. People are sick and tired of watching regional play, so RLCS Season XI needs to change some things up.

Here is my proposal.



First up, the RLRS returns.

For each region, NA, EU, SA, and OCE, any team with at least 1 point earned in Season X has a chance to qualify for RLCS


Firstly, in each region, the Top 6 Season X teams qualify for Season XI's RLCS. Each region will have 10 teams in RLCS to start.


Teams placed 7th through 10th will qualify for the RLCS Play-Ins, while teams 11th through 18th will go into the RLCS Qualifier Tournament, and the remainder of teams will go to the RLRS Qualifiers.


RLCS Qualifier Tournament:

8 teams will be split into 2 groups of 4 teams each. After round-robin, the #1 team in each group advances to the RLCS Play-Ins.

The 2nd, 3rd, and 4th seed will go to the Playoffs

Playoffs are double-elimination bracket, with the Winners Final and Losers Final winners advancing to the RLCS Play-Ins. The teams eliminated from the RLCS Qualifier Tournament will qualify for RLRS Play-Ins


RLCS Play-Ins:

8 teams will play in a Double-Elimination bracket, and the 4 teams advancing from RLCS Play-Ins qualify for RLCS, losers to RLRS


RLRS Play-Ins

4 teams from RLCS Qualifier Tournament, and 28 teams from Open Qualifiers to make 32 teams

32 teams double-elimination, top 4 teams to RLRS







Now the fields are set. 10 teams in RLCS, 8 teams in RLRS


The seasons will of course be in the 4 regions, NA, EU, SA, and OCE.

Each region will be divided into 4 stages (Stage 1, 2, 3, and 4)

Each Stage is likes its own regular season will the Stage Playoffs at the end. Teams accumulate points for performance in each stage.


Stage 1:

the 10 RLCS teams will do leage play, each team will play 9 games. Teams 1-6 in the standings go to Stage Playoffs, 7th qualifies for Stage 2, 8th and 9th to Promotion Playoffs, and 10th goes to RLRS

The #1 RLRS team goes to Stage 2 RLCS, 2nd and 3rd to Promotion Playoffs, 4-6 qualify for Stage 2, 7th and 8th go back to Qualifiers

Points:

#1 RLRS team receives 5 points, 2nd gets 4, 3rd gets 3

10th RLCS gets 4 points, 9th gets 5, 8th gets 6, 7th gets 8.

Stage Playoffs:

#1 and #2 seeds get a bye into Semi-Finals

Lower Round 1: 5th seed vs 6th seed (Winner to Lower QF, loser eliminated, will get 6th place)

Upper Quarterfinals: 3rd seed vs 4th seed (Winner to SF, Loser to Lower QF)

Lower Quarterfinals: Upper Quarterfinal Loser vs Lower Round 1 Winner (Loser gets 5th, winner to SF)

Semi-Finals: 1st Seed vs Lower Quarterfinal Winner
Semi-Finals: 2nd seed vs Upper Quarterfinal Winner

Winners of SF advance to Final


6th place receives 10 points, 5th receives 12 points, 4th receives 15 points, 3rd receives 15, 2nd receives 20, 1st receives 25.

After points are given, the teams then add on the amount of wins they got. 1 win = 1 point

After that, then the Stage 1 Promotion Playoffs between RLCS 8th and 9th and RLRS 2nd and 3rd

Double-elimination bracket, top 2 to Stage 2 RLCS, bottom 2 to Stage 2 RLRS


Then the Stage 2 season, Stage Playoffs, Promo playoffs, teams keep receiving points after 4 stages


After 4 stages, the Top 8 teams in total advance to the Regional Championship
9th through 12th to Play-In

Play-In is Single elimination, winners to Regional Championship
