In these projects, I had the opportunity to experience many different roles such as mentorship, classroom psychologist, project founder and coordinator, book editor and translator. After I realized the personal and professional development I gained as a result of working in society, I started to wonder about the experiences of other clinical psychology students who went through similar conditions with me. The thesis position has emerged at this point. In this process, I acquired a comprehensive knowledge of qualitative work in society and got to know clinical-community psychology theoretically and practically. In this respect, I think that our work with Gizem Erdem, who works with people from different segments of the society with the system approach and develops and evaluates intervention programs, matches a lot and I believe that my experiences will be valued here.
Although I have established my thesis in a qualitative design, I am also competent in quantitative research. At Sabancı University, where I work as a research assistant, I work as a lab assistant for Rob Booth's research methods 1 and 2, and I also worked as an assistant in the lab of Nebi Sümer for the measurement techniques course. In these labs, we apply statistical analyzes with students on SPSS or JASP. In addition, we are currently conducting an article on emotional facial datasets with Olesya Blazhenkova and Robert Booth PI.
In addition to these, I also took part in Işık University for 4 years as a work scholarship student in my undergraduate education. I was the assistant of Berna Akçınar teacher for 1 year and the psychology department for 3 years. Working at the academy has always been very enjoyable for me. In Cardiff Metropolitan University, where I went with Erasmus during my undergraduate education, I saw the more research-oriented side of the academy and I had the opportunity to take courses such as Evolutionary Psychology and Forensic Psychology that I did not encounter in my undergraduate education. While I was completing my undergraduate education, the project homework I wrote using quantitative methods under the supervision of Ezgi Deveci as part of the independent project course was published in the Interdiciplinary Journal of Şehir University.
In addition to all these, as a clinical psychology student, I continue psychotherapeutic interviews with an intensity that does not preclude my academic studies. In my work, I adopt humanistic and psychodynamic approaches and use expressive art therapy methods. Also Dr. I am Karol Darsa's RITTM (Reconnect Integrative Trauma Treatment) program practitioner. This approach involves the combined use of models such as brainspotting, somatic experiencing, gestalt, energy psychology, and mindfulness in the treatment of trauma. In addition to all these, I continue to receive regular supervision from Suzi Amado and have been continuing my own psychotherapy process for 1 year.
I first got to know Koç University in 2014 with a one-day student exchange program organized by TPÖÇG. During this day, I had the opportunity to attend the introductory and elective courses in the psychology department. I remember very clearly that I envied the academic competence of the students and teachers in the lessons and wished to be a student here. Apart from this, my friends who are currently students in your doctoral programs say they recommend it. For all these reasons, I believe that your program at Koç University is superior to its peers and that you offer the most suitable education program for me.
