Bertahun-tahun tinggal di Korea membuatnya fasih berbahasa korea bahakan menulis dengan hangul. Ramah, mudah bergaul dan humoris itulah watak Joe sebelum ia mengalami hal terburuk dalam hidupnya. Ia dicampakan oleh kekasihnya. Lebih buruk lagi ia dicampakan dalam keadaanya sedang mengandung. Terpukul, itu hal yang ia rasakan.
Kedua orang tua Joe tidak mengetahui bahwa ia mengandung sampai suatu saat mereka memergoki Joe hendak bunuh diri. Semenjak itu kedua orang tuanya mengirim Joe ke rumah neneknya di sebuah desa terpencil di Jepang dan membiarkan anak mereka itu tinggal disana sampai bayi dalam kandungan Joe lahir.
Setelah melahirkan Joe memerlukan waktu berbulan-bulan untuk menerima kenyataan bahwa ia sudah memiliki anak. Anak dari lelaki yang paling ia cintai sekaligus paling ia benci.
Dan saat dirasa sudah lebih baik Joe akhirnya memutuskan untuk melanjutkan pendidikannya. Kedua orang tuanya mengirim Joe ke Seoul dan menyekolahkannya di CY Art High School karena mereka tau bahwa Joe memiliki bakat seni yang tersembunyi. (?)
