Hari ini, tepat di tanggal 2 Mei 2021, merupakan hari peringatan ulang tahun Bapak Pendidikan Indonesia Ki Hadjar Dewantara, sekaligus menjadi Hari Pendidikan Nasional serentak di seluruh penjuru Indonesia lho!
Jasa yang terkenal telah diberikan Menteri Pendidikan Pertama Indonesia ini salah satunya lewat didirikannya perguruan Taman Siswa. Beliau menekankan kesetaraan di dalam sekolahnya tersebut, agar semua anak-anak pribumi di masa itu bisa merasakan pendidikan yang merata dan sebaik-baiknya.

Sudah bebaskah pers kita hari ini?
Setiap memasuki tanggal 3 Mei, persoalan terkait nasib awak pers sedunia tak pernah habis dipertanyakan kebebasannya. Lika-liku yang dialami awak pers semakin sulit (atau memang dipersulit), seiring berjalannya waktu.
Padahal pers merupakan instrumen yang penting bagi suatu institusi sosial, termasuk negara. Kemerdekaan pers sudah seharusnya ada dan tidak diganggu gugat, apalagi di negara yang menjunjung erat demokrasi.
