The sun’s in my face again.. Ugh, fine, let me get up in two more minutes.

I’m up, oof. I rise up out of my bed, giving off a wide stretch that would make my wife jealous as my kids get off me. What a wonderful day, especially when your kids are jumping on your face and body trying to wake you up. I let go of my kids and see them go out screaming and having a good time. Once I got dressed and ready I head over to the kitchen to hear my wife singing some ancient song from old times. I can smell the sweet rolls and the cheese wheels as I reach over to grab breakfast. From outside, I can hear the people in the village I live in of cacophony and noise. I give a goodbye kiss to my wife and hugs to my kids.
Being a blacksmith is hard work, especially in these trying times, but makes a pretty coin. With the rise of the civil war going on between these rebels and the Imperials, the latter’s been pestering me constantly with shipments of daggers and swords and axes and everything that’s sharp and can draw blood. Recently, they haven’t been giving me much gold for the same amount of weaponry I make, wonder why.. Before my thoughts could go any further, I hear one of the town guards screaming, “Everyone to your homes! We got bandits incomi-!” before an arrow shoots straight through his helmet. Oh, jeez, that’s gruesome and effective. I turn to run, grabbing a sword on the way home, only to see it ablaze. People around me screaming and running everywhere like panicked chickens, how did bandits hit a village so fast and so efficient with many guards around? I feel a sharp pain on my back before leaning down to kick a bandit who snuck on me and slashed him, hard and he falls to the ground. My wife, my kids.. I need to run, get to safety. I see a fireball flying past my face, too close for comfort. I keep running, past the gate, but there’s a group of bandits after me, some flinging fireballs at me, others trying to pelt me with arrows. I’m somehow lucky in dodging all of them. If I can make it past the border, a whole forest of trees, I can lose them hopefully. I keep running and running, the sword still being clutched in my hands just in case. Out of the corner of my eye I spot a group of people within the forest.. Hm, odd, they don’t look like bandits. Their clothing looks more ragged and, rebel-like. They seem to be intercepting the bandits behind me. Perfect, this is my chance, I can escape into the border and survive… Or I could help them fight on the bandits. I slow down, meet up with the new strangers, and turn around to face a common enemy. We all charge against them, swords and axes raised as we fight. Seems like one of my newfound allies can cast fireball too, as I see a brigand catch on fire and screaming for his life. My foot makes contact with one of them in the stomach, before slicing his head wide open. Perfect, only a couple left. Or so I thought, seems like an Imperial scouting party has found us. Thank the gods, I’m saved! Only then did I realize I spy a rock coming towards my face, hitting perfectly at my temple.
I wake up, I’m sitting up, what? Wait, why is this ride so bumpy? Why am I in a wagon? Why are there other people bound here? One of them is gagged. I can’t feel my hands, I try to move them but they’re bound too with some kind of cloth rope.. I look around, this guy is looking at me, blonde hair, looks husky. He tells me, “Hey you, you’re finally awake. You were trying to cross the border right? Walked right into that Imperial ambush. Same as us, and that thief over there.”
