Describe a typical day at work for someone who has this job.

A typical day as a video editor includes things such as treating treatments, storyboards, and scripts. Editors also produce and edit videos and photos for different platforms. They
also source and/or create graphics, animations, special effects, music, sound effects, and sound bites used.

Would you consider this to be a stressful job? Why?
It can definitely be stressful. You have to make sure you meet the deadlines while still having a quality video.

Is this career limited to a certain area (part of the country, cities, rural areas, etc)?
It is possible to work anywhere since you could do video editing in your own home.

Why are you worth a potential million-dollar investment over the course of your career?
I am a person who is ambitious about this career and willing to put as much effort into this job as much as possible. If you are asked this question during your CCP, give examples to

What about this career do you feel could give you a sense of accomplishment?
Finishing a great video makes me feel accomplished.

I would spend time working both alone and with coworkers. Provide examples of situations where both could occur

The amount of control that video editors have over how they do things is dependent on the employer they have. Some allow full control, but others want the editing to be done
exactly how they envision it.

-Weekends off? No, editors are likely to work almost daily
-Set hours or varied? Hours are extremely varied
-Paid vacation time? No, there’s likely no vacation time
-Possibility of being transferred? Yes, if there’s another YouTuber that’s paying more
-On-call work? Yes, editors are likely to be called anytime for a new video to edit


Would you have to evaluate the performance of others?
No, editors have to use what they get from the client to make the video. If it’s not enough the video editor may ask for more footage, but if not they must try to make a good
video out of it or find a new client.

How does the public perceive your career? Is it respected?
Youtubers and other people in a similar field are likely the only ones to recognize your work.

Is there variety in the workweek or is it the same thing every day?
There can be varied work based on the type of YouTuber you work under. The work would mostly be around the same type of work though. The variation may range from the same
type of videos or a completely different type of style video every day. Such varieties include let’s plays, acting, storytelling, reviews, and much more.

What do you feel is the most exciting thing about this job?
I feel like the most exciting thing about being a video editor is when you’re extremely close to finishing a video. You have most of it done and you see all the pieces of the video come
together to form something great!
