List three adjectives that describe how you see yourself as a student. Give examples to explain why you chose these adjectives.
hardworking, nonconformist, Balanced
Why are you asking me for a recommendation? Why do you think I may have unique insight on your interests/ abilities?
I am asking you for a recommendation as in all honestly APUSH was one of the only, if not one of two classes where I truly felt free to speak my mind and be myself. I think that as APUSH being a class I excelled in as well as you, Ms. Clarke, getting to know me well and my abilities from these assignments that you would be a great person to help with my recommendation. I think that you seem to know me well as a student and my interests.
Describe a favorite lesson/assignment/ project from our class. What did you find challenging, or interesting?
A favorite project from our class would be the Civil Right Project. I would hands down choose this assignment over any other because I found that this project challenged me but in a way that helped me learn more. Although, that may sound corny this project was actually super interesting, not only was it time consuming and challenging but it also helped me with being more patient.
Describe a moment you struggled in our class. How did you react to this disappointment or failure?
A time where I struggled in our class was near the beginning of the year where I faltered and almost dropped my grade down by a letter. I learned from this experience and pushed my school to concentrate more, be patient, and learn from my mistakes.
How would you describe your contributions to our classroom culture?
I would describe my contributions to our class as a slow but good positive increase. In the beginning of the year I did have a lot going on I would control myself less. However, as the year went on I tried to be more positive and only talk when appropriate. I would say that I tried to keep the class lively even though Ms Clarke did a great job at that already.
What are your academic future goals (e.g. major, career, degree you plan to pursue, etc.)? Did this course influence your major/career choice? If so, in what way?
This course definitely influenced my career/major choice. At the moment I want to be honest and say I really have no idea what career I want to pursue, however; when entering college I want to apply as a international relations or political science major. This class definitely increased my political aspect and wanting to learn more about history.
What do you think your strengths were in our class, or in social studies in general?
I think my strengths included public speaking, research, and other aspects regarding social studies.
Is there anything else you would like to remind me of in regards to your performance in the classroom?
I would like to just say that its been a honor to be in your class and I had a great year so far.
Are you a member of any clubs/organizations that "relate" to what was studied in our class? Explain
I am a board member in Mock Trial as well as worked/work for organizations that advocate for the rights of certain groups such as the Uighur people and others. In addition I advocated in the UN assembly.
How would your classmates describe you?
My classmates would describe me as energetic, outspoken, and respectful
What excites you or inspires you about history/ politics/ social studies?
I think the fact that there are so many views and perspectives on history and politics is what excites and inspires me. I love debating and discussing the different views of situations around the world whhether is be current or past.
