Kolory tasmy - odrozniaja ilosc żył - 40 i 80, pinów jest zawsze 40.(mniej dla FDD, dla stacji dyskietek)

TECHNOLOGIE ATA:
- PIO (programmed input output) - pierwsza metoda transferu danych w interfejsie ATA umożliwiająca wymiane danych miedzy plyta, a napedem.
- DMA (direct memory access) - specjalny tryb umozliwiajacy napedom podlaczonym do interfejsu komunikacje bezposrednio z pamietcia operacyjna RAM bez udzialu procesora. Powstal jako odpowiedz na niedoskonalosc PIO.

2. SATA - składa sie z siedmiu cienkich miedzianych zyl zakonczonych zlaczami o szerokosci 14mm. Napedy sa zasilane 15 zylowym przewodem zakonczony 24mm-trowym zlaczem. Kabel moze miec max 1m. Wersja eSATA moze miec do 2m. Korzysta z polaczenia point-to-point.

3. SCSI - (small computer system interface) - interfejs dla malych komputerow. Montowany na zasadzie karty rozszerzen.
Wyszedl w 4 standardach: 1 2 3 4. Od 5MB/s do 640MB/s
4. SAS - od 2003r. Technical Committee od 300 MB/s do 1,5GB/s

Macierze RAID - nadmiarowa macierz niedrogich dyskow, powstala na Uniwer Kalifornijskim w Berkley w 1987r. rjekt przewidywal stworzenie systemu kilku dyskow dzialajacych jak jedno urzadzenie co mialo porawic jego niezawodnosc i wydajnosc.
RAID 0 (STRIPING) - polega na polaczeniu ze soba dwoch lub wiecej dyskow fizycznych
