Giraffe facts
1) Giraffes are found in the dry land's of Africa, where they roam among the open plains and woodlands.

2) Well known for their long necks, these gentle giants are the world’s tallest living land animals. An adult male can grow to around 5.5m – that’s taller than three adult humans!

3) Giraffe’s heart is one of the most powerful of that of all the mammals. Research reveals that giraffes have a supercharged and a small heart that is different than other similar animals. The 2 feet long heart weighs around 12 kg and is incredibly powerful to pump the blood all the way up its long neck and legs.

4) Female giraffes tend to associate themselves in a group with a dozen or so female giraffes and they only occasionally include a few younger male giraffe in their groups while a male giraffe tend to live with older male giraffes which are leading a solitary life.

5 How can you tell if a giraffe is male or female?
Because of this characteristic behaviour, a giraffe can be identified as either male or female from a long distance away simply by its stance while eating. Male giraffes are also more inclined to wander into dense woodland, a habitat that females generally avoid.
