Are you contemplating long-distance trip away from your home? Make sure to load up with digital content before the WiFi stops working
I'd like to tell you the story of my last Arctic boat trip. It sounded fantastic, National Geographic's trip thru the Arctic ice with polar bears. It would be ice everywhere eyes could look and snow everywhere. Man-made machines were to fight the elements and make way thru the frozen northern wasteland. It sounded like a magnificent project, a massive combat with the north weather, the north pole.

I was told to take any technology that can be put in my bag. I was able to fit my laptop, and also add an extra large screen to increase my work area. The electricity was not a problem according to the information they gave me. I wasn't quite aware of the things that were about to take place. I had no idea that two days into the 14 day trip , I'd be without Internet connection and disappear off the face of Earth for the following 10 days. It was quite a shock for me when it was happening. Any trip, no matter how difficult or remote, cause me to be cut off from the world of technology. Not only do I have unfinished business and I'm not prepared for it.

The majority of people don't mind if they must disconnect from the internet. Internet is all around. If your home connection is slow at times and you are unable to connect, try to find a McDonalds nearby and connect to the free WiFi. You can bring your laptop to the nearest Starbucks and use their WiFi free connection to access the Internet at your leisure. North of the border, there's no restaurant or cafe which can help you. There are many hours away from the closest electricity source. You won't find free internet anywhere. In these situations, there are two escape routes that you can take: either prepare to be offline from home or get satellite internet connection.

I can't afford to purchase the satphone as it's expensive, particularly for Internet. I'll create an audio and video library to use for the next journey without Internet. Last time I had two tracks. However, they were accidentally downloaded back in the past, and I was limited my music choices to three jazz songs and one with a name that I didn't recognize. This is it. Four tunes for two weeks of nothingness.. If I had known this was going to be the case, I would have prepared. I would have loaded my computer with shows from television movies, as well as a lot of music videos. My top podcasts are my soundtrack for life. It's simple to download them, convert to mp3 and save on my computer, and then I can sit in my room listening to everything I enjoy listening to while at home, yet I seldom have the time. This was my golden hour, 2 weeks full of gold. It turned out to have been 2 weeks filled with staring at ceilings and running from passengers to meet them every when they made a sound.

Both metaphorically and literally In both ways, the journey was empty. I have never been so bored. The ice was thick. I knew that this was likely to cause the issue. The boat was forced to turn around and come back to the shores of civilization. This was not a huge surprise however, it meant many hours could have been spent listening and watching videos from podcasts, DIY tutorials about home fixes or simply listening to music. Next time I'll convert YouTube videos to mp4 and MP3 formats on my laptop. Music never makes you feel depressed. Remember that Netflix and Hulu apps allow you to download movies and shows onto your computer for viewing offline. https://muzlo.download These can also be used on long trips to the Arctic.
