PTFE Teflon rod plastic
PTFE Teflon rod plastic what is the difference from Teflon.
Teflon® is the brand name used for fluoropolymer, which is also referred to by the abbreviation PTFE.
It is a semi-crystalline with many unique properties. It is a thermoplastic, this plastic made of thermoplastic material has the possibility of reuse in various applications.
By shredding and heating the material, it can be shaped into another desired shape, such as a solid round rod.
PTFE also belongs to the high performance fluorine-containing plastics. It offers excellent chemical resistance with a low coefficient of friction over a wide temperature range.

PTFE is also resistant to almost all chemicals and is flame extinguishing.
It is an ethylene polymer in which all hydrogen atoms have been replaced by fluorine. The ethylene polymer is very long and is one of the largest molecules in the world. PTFE also belongs to the thermoplastics, which means that this plastic becomes liquid when heated.
PTFE is also a plastic with the lowest coefficient of friction and can withstand a very high temperature.
It has an unusually high thermal stability and chemical resistance. With excellent electrical resistance and a non-adhesive surface, the material distinguishes itself from other plastics.
However, this is in contrast to the low mechanical strength and high specific gravity compared to other plastics.

BENEFITS OF PTFE
Very good temperature resistance (-200+260°C, short term up to 300°C)
Very low coefficient of friction
Extremely low surface tension (virtually no materials that stick to PTFE, difficult to glue or weld)
High coefficient of thermal expansion
Relatively low strength/ stiffness
Low constant (insulating)
flame resistant
Teflon is also used as an insulating material in electrical installations. PTFE has a high resistivity.
In PTFE staven , this plastic is also resistant to high temperatures and has a low frictional resistance.
These properties make it suitable as an insulator for cabling in specialist installations where high demands are made on the material, such as in aircraft or military installations.

Disadvantages of PTFE

Relatively low strength/ stiffness
The machining possibilities of PTFE

Machining machining
Cutting water jet
Cutting laser beam

The materials that are made with this are, for example
Covers, liners
Heavy Chemical Applications
Bearing material
Food and Industry
Seals
Chemical installation technology, e.g. valves, pump parts, fittings or funnels
High chemical stress sliding applications

To spin

Clearance angle (α) = 10 [o]
rake angle (λ) = 5 – 8 [o]
Cutting speed = 150 – 500 [m/min]
Entering angle (χ) = 10 [o]
Feed rate = 0.1 – 0.3 [ mm]
