DIY Dog Food Station with Storage Addicted DIY
Happy Friday everybody! For those of you who don’t know, here is Dakota. She’s our sweet, loving, super spoiled furbaby. So spoiled, really, that we’re pretty bound she thinks she’s human. Just the day gone by morning, I rolled over in bed to find her 6″ from my face, asleep on the pillow next to me. Hubby is drowsing on any other side of me in a recliner due to his shoulder surgical procedure, so she interestingly decided to take abilities of the additional bed space.

For as much as I love her, she has a few quirks that drive me insane!Aside from having a 42″ vertical jump to get on the kitchen island, she also likes to spill what’s left of her water bowl in every single place. It’s her way of asserting that she’d like a refill. Such an endearing nice, right?I decided it was time to construct her anything that could stay away from these messes and also store her dog food. I sketched up some plans and came up with this DIY dog food stand with garage underneath. It keeps her water and food dishes from being tossed around, and I can store a complete bag of pet food in it. I built it to fit a 10 gallon storage tub, so here's definitely a project for giant dogs.

Be certain to down load the printable plans for the fabrics and cut list. Make sure to measure the precise dimensions of your box before you cut your pieces to be sure that all of your corners join up with out gaps. I glued and nailed the trim on using 1 1/4″ brad nails. that site desired to buy the fancy coffee table hinges that would lift the lid up and out of the way, but at $50 it was a little expensive for a dog food stand. Instead, I bought these narrow utility hinges for the back and then the lid assist hinges to maintain the lid from slamming down if the kids were filling the dog bowl. I was at first going to use two of the lid assist hinges, but you’ll notice that both of these hinges say “left.

” Not anything I paid attention to when I was status in Home Depot. To help the lid sit flat against the box, I grabbed my 3/4″ chisel and mortised the hinges. Since I couldn’t mortise the lid, I went deep enough on the box for the complete hinge to sit flush with the rim. Don’t let this step intimidate you. It’s super easy to do on a assignment like this.

Dakota lives under this crazy pretense that everything must be for her, so she wasted no time aiding herself to lunch while I was seeking to take images of the performed pet food stand. I’ll admit that this is a good looking big size, but the height is perfect for her and she or he has no problem achieving her food and water. The dishes are easy to take away after they wish to be filled and I love that it looks lots nicer than having her big bag of food out on exhibit. Again, one could download the grade by grade printable plans for this task so it is easy to build your individual! If you do happen to construct it, I’d love for you to tag me on social media and likewise use the hashtag addicted2diy. It is a big thrill when I see my readers build one of my tasks and your assignment can be featured on Instagram and Facebook!Happy constructing! She’s about 75 pounds and 2′ tall at the end of her shoulders.

You could definitely make this a little bit shorter when you are concerned about height. I just stuck my hand under probably the most bowls and feature a few inches between the base of the bowl and the lid. Maybe 3″. Oh how funny! We did a DNA test on her a year or so ago and it came back saying she was German Shepard/Lab/Mastiff. Definitely is sensible for her size, and that undercoat; We can’t say for sure if the DNA test was all that correct, but she completely has Shepard in her.

Our dog looks similar to her! From the DNA test we did, he’s mostly Grand Pyrenees and Australian Cattle Dog. It’s so appealing how various combos look so identical. …or perhaps the test aren’t super accurate. sorry, brain NOT engaged this a. m.

that contained both the food and water bowls. Alas, it might get so gross from food slobber and the water would run off of it and get under the lip of the water bowl… Therefore, as a pleasant warning – I would be sure that the pet food is contained with its own lid in order that if water does drip down it doesn’t get into the food… eand you can want to either use polyurethane over your wood, veneer it with anything waterPROOF, and/or use a laminate or acrylic lid/top – for simpler cleaning. Yep!My dog drips water in every single place. The dog food inside is contained in a Rubbermaid tub, so it stays fresh and dry: We have insanely hard water here, so there are some water spots, but I did seal the top and it’s held up great to the moisture:This is an excellent idea!I are looking to make this. Has anyone tried adjusting the plans to make this for 3 bowls? We have 2 dogs, so would need space for 2 food bowls and 1 water bowl. Basically, it is simply made to be longer.

I really now have two dogs and our puppy is large enough now that it’s time to construct a new one. I’ll make sure to post the plans when I do!Very nice build and impressive concept that is required for my new home. The only issue I see could be slobbered water around the water bowl going under the bowl rim into the dog food under and in the box. I keep my water bowl inside my home on a tray to catch the slobbering and dripped water. Putting a raised rim around the hole to rest the bowl on would dispose of any water going under the bowl into the box. As well a raised rim around the food bowl would keep debris of broken dry food or other from going under that rim as well.

That isn’t a big change tho it'd keep the food under within the box from moisture or foreign matter. Very nice build and staggering concept that is needed for my new home. The only issue I see can be slobbered water around the water bowl going under the bowl rim into the pet food under and inside the box. I keep my water bowl inside my home on a tray to catch the slobbering and dripped water. Putting a raised rim around the hole to rest the bowl on would eliminate any water going under the bowl into the box.

As well a raised rim around the food bowl would keep particles of broken dry food or other from going under that rim besides. That isn’t a big change tho it might keep the food under in the box from moisture or international matter. AHHH I needed this the day past!Probably need to adjust the scale for my lab since she’s a tad shorter, but that should be too hard. Mama needs a good excuse to put money into some better clamps!buying the plans now.
