James Whitfield Thomson
Former sales executive and U.S. Navy navigator James Whitfield Thomson grew up on the North Side of Pittsburgh. He attended Harvard College on a scholarship and later earned a Ph.D. in American studies at the University of Pennsylvania. Thomson served as a naval navigator during the Vietnam War. He has published short stories and articles in literary journals, and has received grants from the Massachusetts Council on the Arts. His debut novel, The Ledge, is the result of his experience in Vietnam.

Thomson was born in Pittsburgh and grew up in Boston, where he scored enough touchdowns to get into Harvard. After college, he joined the Army and served two tours of duty in Vietnam. He later completed his Ph.D. in American Studies at the University of Pennsylvania and worked for a start-up company in Atlanta. He now lives in a historic Victorian farmhouse west of Boston. His first book, "Lies You Wanted to Hear," won a national short story contest and won a Massachusetts cultural council grant.

A former football player, Mr. Thomson earned a Ph.D. in American Studies from the University of Pennsylvania, where he worked on his dissertation on slavery. He taught at the University of Miami and worked as a consultant for a start-up in Atlanta. Now a writer, Thomson writes his own fiction in a cozy Victorian farmhouse west of Boston. He has five children, including his son, who has autism, and is married to Elizabeth. There are other works by him, but "Lies You Want to Hear" is a debut novel that will stay with you long after you finish reading it.

Thompson's first novel was published in 2013. It is based on the true story of a teenaged girl who had a difficult childhood. His mother's actions were so devastating that she died of a heart attack. His daughters were devastated by the loss of their mother. Their father was in jail and her sister was dead. In an attempt to save her daughter, Thomson became an attorney, despite his mother's protestations, and her family was forced to move into a rented house in Atlanta.

Thomson's debut novel, Lies You Wanted to Hear, is Thomson's second novel. It was originally published by Sourcebooks in September 2013. Despite its acclaimed author status, the novel is still not widely available in the United States, but it's been translated to several languages. The story was adapted from a real-life account, and the book was subsequently released in November of 2013 by his publisher.
