Hold'em focuses on playing weak humans who can be fooled. Playing with robots is a way to make them call you way too much; they're unflappable.
If you're just starting poker, or if winning is your goal, then you need to choose easy opponents to play against. Although this may seem obvious, it is important to remember that experience and luck are not the only factors that make a player win more often than others. Also, if you are having a bad time, decrease the size of bet or simply walk away and leave it for another day.
The cocktail waitress, the TV, the dog, the loudmouth - they really are not conducive to achieving peak mental poker performance. Poker is a mental activity. So, how can we possibly maintain the level of focus required for peak mental performance with all of those distractions bombarding us?
