Mirabella Madrigal, the main character, is told of a story about a "miraculous candle" as a little girl that somehow "created" the land of Encanto. When she was about to be given one of these "gifts" that the candle gives to people, she had lost it before she got to have it. When she is grown up, she gets ready for a big day. There are kids that are urging Mirabella to tell her story to them. This breaks out into a song, in which Mirabella and a bunch of other people sing together, and it is about boasting that she is in the Madrigal family. During it, those kids keep urging Mirabella to tell them what her "gift" was, however, Mirabella keeps trying to hide the fact she didn't get one. After trying so hard not to get exposed, someone gives her a homemade gift because she is the only Madrigal family member without a "gift." The kids then find out she didn't give one. After this, she goes back into her house. She tries to help her family prepare a celebration, but, she gets rejected and is told to let her other siblings and family members to do the work. She goes to her room and then she sees a gift box on the floor, which is then swept under. She goes under her bed, and then she sees her roommate. Apparently, her roommate is the next one to receive a "gift." They discuss things about it, and Mirabella tries to encourage him to go for it. It's night, and it is time for the celebration to begin. Everyone is excited. They sing a song about Encanto and its "creation." After the song is over, some curtains open, and Mirabella's roommate then is prompted to walk across a rug to where his "gift" will be, but, her roommate says he can't do it without her. They both walk across the rug while holding hands. Then, a door appears, which is the roommate's "gift." They walk inside, and then a bunch of animals are attracted to it. The roommate then rides a lion all around the room while everyone is in excitement. After that, they all take a group picture. Mirabella is left out, which makes her kind of jealous.
