BOWTRUCKLE adalah makhluk penjaga pohon yang ditemukan terutama di Inggris barat, Jerman bagian selatan, dan hutan-hutan Skandinavia tertentu.
Makhluk ini amat sulit dilihat karena ukurannya yang kecil (paling besar hanya setinggi 20 sentimeter) dan tampaknya terdiri atas kulit kayu dan ranting dengan dua mata kecil berwarna cokelat.

Bowtruckle, yang memakan serangga, adalah makhluk pecinta damai dan amat pemalu.
Namun bila pohon tempat mereka timggal diganggu, makhluk ini akan menerkam si penebang kayu yang mencoba membahayakan rumah mereka dan mencungkil matanya dengan jari-jari mereka yang tajam dan panjang.

Persembahan kutu kayu akan menenteqamkan Bowtruckle cukup lama sehingga penyihir bisa memindahkan kayu bahan pembuat tongkat dari pohonnya.

Bowtruckle sangat sulit ditemukan, berukuran sebesar tangan,pemakan serangga,penghuni pohon, dengan jari yang tajam dan panjang (dua jari di setiap sisinya) bowtruckle juga biasa berkamuflase karena ia memiliki bentuk fisik seperti ranting.

Etymologi
kata "bow" adalah dialek tua skotlandia yang berarti "tinggal" dan truckle yang berarti "dahan pohon" dalam dialek tua bahasa inggris.
