Know the difference between the "similarity principle" and the "matching hypothesis", they are nearly similar. The matching hypothesis is more about physical attractiveness while the similarity principle is more general in terms of similar interest, attractiveness, goals, religion, etc.
Cognitive dissonance in a more simple term is when thoughts do not match actions. Know this! As well as the rest of 34 vocab words...
To explain the Fundamental Attribution Error, I will use an example:
If you walk into a new teacher's classroom, and the teacher gives you a mean mug on the first day, you will automatically think that he is a dick, or a douchebag. In Fundamental Attribution Error, you are not accounting for possible reasons, such as the death of his daughter a week earlier, or that he stepped in dog poo a few minutes ago.
To explain the Self-serving Bias, I will use an example:
If Mr. Stanley gives you back your test, and you got an A, you will tell yourself that you studied hard and that you earned the A yourself. If he hands you back the test and you received an F, you will not look at yourself as the problem, rather, you place the blame on Mr. Stanley himself, that he is a terrible teacher.
Triangular theory of Love:
KNOW THIS VERY WELL!
The triangular theory of love consists of: PASSION, INTIMACY, COMMITMENT
Passion = Infatuation
Intimacy = Liking/Friendship
Commitment has no direct relation, but is still part of the triangular theory of love
IF SOMEONE HAS ALL PASSION, INTIMACY, AND COMMITMENT, it is considered CONSUMMATE LOVE, or COMPLETE LOVE, but remember consummate love.
Triangular theory of Love was created by STERNBERG
