The Shuffleboard Game
Several methods are available for learning to play on a shuffleboard table, but all players should strive for the three main objectives. Whenever you play shuffleboard, do the following:

1. THE WELL PLACED PUCK
One of the most important skills to develop is this one! Make sure your puck lands as far down the board as possible without falling off the far end. Practice is the key to mastering this skill.

2. ATTACK OPPONENT'S PUCKS
Try to bump and knock off the highest scoring pucks of your opponent as you learn how to play shuffleboard. In order to acquire this skill, frequent practice is required.

3. BLOCKING OR PROTECTING YOUR OWN PUCKS
Screening or blocking a puck is a common tactic in basketball and football. Put as many pucks as possible in front of your best scoring puck so that your opponent cannot knock you off. Place your blocking pucks far enough from your scoring pucks so that opponents cannot bump them all off the board at the same time.


LEARN HOW TO PLAY SHUFFLEBOARD USING BOTH HANDS
Shuffleboard game requires equal ability with both hands. Practice will enable you to learn how to play shuffleboard equally well with either hand. Attempt to shoot as many shots as possible with each hand. This will increase your chances of winning.

HOW TO SHOOT THE PUCKS (OR WEIGHTS) ON A SHUFFLEBOARD
At first, you may find that shooting your puck from the middle of the board is easier. Nevertheless, most players will learn that shooting from the edges or sides of the board is more accurate. Using this method, you can grip the puck with your thumb, index and middle fingers and slide along the shuffleboard surface with your third and fourth fingers. In this way, the edge of the board can act as a guide to help with balance and control. If you do this, you'll be able to place your pucks more accurately on the shuffleboard table.

HOW TO PLAY SHUFFLEBOARD USING "ENGLISH" OR (TWIST) IN SHUFFLEBOARD PLAY
An English (also known as twist or sidespin) delivered on a shuffleboard table greatly improves accuracy. With English, you can control the puck's placement as well as how it will react when it hits another puck. As you release the puck, twist your thumb and forefinger away from your wrist and in toward the body to place English on the shot. Developing and acquiring this skill will be a long-term process. The puck will be more likely to remain on the board if the rubber is properly used after it makes contact with an opponent's puck. An English brake holds the English in place. English is a strategy that very skilled players use to hide pucks delivered on-board behind pucks already on the board, thus getting the advantage of having a just-delivered puck well blocked without further play.
