<h1>Lenovo Thinkpad T480s 14" Thin & Lighting Company Laptop</h1>
Enter the ThinkPad T480s, which slots in next to the X1 Carbon to present ThinkPad-level business acumen without the thin-and-light focus. The latitude might not be that great of an option outside the US though, as Dell’s laptops tend to get expensive in these other markets. This laptop’s slightly increased thickness in comparison to the X1 Carbon and some of the other premium tier ultra-portables on the market leaves room for a full set of ports on the sides. Lenovo's ThinkPad T480s has many plus points, and the upgrade to 8th Generation Intel processors is welcome. It still needs two hands, but this design is an ergonomic solution to a perennial problem. The 720p webcam on the T480s is solid, and I'd happily use it in a meeting. My sweater appeared just the right shade of olive green and I could see the dimple in my right cheek. Light coming in from the room's windows was harsh, but not overly blown out.

The X1 Carbon has a similar price point, and allows for upgraded configurations as well, including a faster Core i7 chip, and a WQHD display with Dolby Vision. When considering value, think of the option of having the more powerful, thinner X1 Carbon, or even the smaller-sized Dell XPS 13, for equal or even less money. The final verdict- there are other Lenovo ThinkPads out there, easy enough to find as it was to add an “s” to the T480. Is Lenovo is being generous, competitive, or innovative at all? Yes, but for a pricey ThinkPad with strong performance, there may not be enough of a “better” experience to swerve customers.


Sadly, this one doesn’t come with software to adjust the audio quality at just about all, therefore what you get within the box is just about all you’re going to have. There is a USB Type-C about the left hand side for charging, a docking connector that will connect with a Thunderbolt 3, an SD card slot, a headphone jack, a USB 3.0, an Ethernet port, and an HDMI output. The right hand side has a lock slot and another USB 3.0 port.

Hardware And Performance
You won't have to worry about carrying your charger with you to work, nor will you need a bag full of dongles to connect your peripherals. If you're in the market for a capable laptop that you can haul with you day in and day out, definitely consider the ThinkPad T480. The back panel is easily removed — there are six Phillips-head screws — and from there you can upgrade or replace storage, RAM , Wi-Fi card, and LTE card. Everything is right at the top, and there's hardly any digging needed to find these pieces. For those who want to buy light right now and save a bit of coin, know that it will be easy to keep this machine running for years to come. It will run for about 11 hours and 29 minutes with the punched up battery.

The brightness at 215 nits is average and lacks vividness, suggesting poor color coverage. This turns out to be true at 60% sRGB in faliure against the competition Dell 7490 suggests in the T480s purely aimed at business use and not for photo or video editing creatives. There’s also some screen bleeding that lets the T480 down.

Due to the design, the soldered RAM runs in single-channel mode, while the extra DIMM runs in dual-channel, which is just a specific quirk and will have very little to no effect in real-life use.
