Despite the efforts of animal control officers and law enforcement, in the end a glue trap captured a venomous zebra cobra on a north Raleigh porch, ending an eventful 48-hour period that attracted attention throughout North Carolina.
It was taken to a safer location to be fully cleaned after it was guided into the bucket and guided out.
At youtube.com, a striped snake crawled out of the siding of a house on Sandringham Drive onto the front porch of a home earlier in the day. Lifting its head, it was able to see its hood.
After confirming the snake was the one they were trying to capture, Animal Control officers moved the camera crews back.
Early Tuesday, early Tuesday morning, a 911 call from inside the same house sparked the search.

The North Carolina capital is Raleigh. Following hours of consultation and preparation by police and animal control officers, a venomous zebra cobra was caught with a glue trap on a Raleigh porch Wednesday night, coming to an end in North Carolina after nearly 48 hours of turmoil.
Cobra was placed in red bucket and moved to a safe location to fully remove glue from its body.
A striped snake was captured by WRAL cameras crawling onto a front porch on Sandringham Drive earlier in the day. When it lifted its head to look around, its hood was visible.
When Animal Control officers confirmed the snake was the one they moved camera crews back before they attempted to catch it.
This same residence had called 911 early Tuesday, sparking the search.

The ordeal has ended, said Joan Nelson, her neighbor.
She said she felt safe and really happy. Now that I'm outside, I can go on my deck and have a walk. It's very sad for the snake, though.
The snake in question was found laying out on a porch in a north Raleigh neighborhood where a zebra cobra had been reported missing.
Having a snake that can spit up to nine feet long can make even a morning dog walk a frightening experience. The African Snakebite Institute reports that this snake is very dangerous. A victim's nervous system might shut down upon ingestion of the venom.
An immediate reaction to the poison of a cobra is pain, swelling, irritation, vomiting, and diarrhea. Following a heavy fever and breathing problems, you might lose your breath and may die.
Avian and Exotic Animal Care is owned and operated by veterinarian Salina Locke.
Cobras of this kind usually do not bite. The venom from them, she said, is typically sprayed. She said they are extremely accurate and shoot straight for the eyes.
Due to the risks, Locke does not recommend this snake as a pet.

The majority of bites occur during sleep. Research indicates people who are bit can suffer health issues for a long time.
It has been reported that police searched a home on 6917 Chamonix Place, near the location where the cobra was last spotted.
In March, there was an issue with the animals at that home. The zebra cobra was found about a half mile away on Monday and Tuesday.
There are records in the county that indicate Keith and Rebecca Gifford reside at that address. There is a Facebook account for Keith Gifford that shows several photos of snakes that he claims are owned by his son, Christopher.
On his TikTok account, Christopher Gifford has more than 460000 followers. He claims to have a zebra cobra seven feet long on one of his posts.
