Raleigh police seal days-long hunt for venomous zebra cobra with glue trap.
As a result of hours of consultation between law enforcement and animal control officers, a glue trap snared a venomous zebra cobra on a north Raleigh porch Wednesday night, ending an eventful 48-hour period that attracted attention throughout North Carolina.
Cobras in red buckets are guided into a safe location so the glue on their bodies can be removed.
The snake was seen crawling onto a porch of a house on Sandringham Drive earlier in the day. Lifting its head, its hood could be seen.
Before moving in to capture the snake, Animal Control officers moved camera crews to the back.
On Tuesday, police searched the same home after receiving a 911 call there.

ARLINGTON, N.C. Despite hours of consultation and preparation of law enforcement and animal control officers, a venomous zebra cobra was captured on a north Raleigh porch on Wednesday night, capping a 48-hour saga that attracted national attention.
To completely remove the glue from its body, the cobra was seated in a red bucket and transported to a safe location.
The WRAL cameras captured the striped snake crawling out of the siding of a Sandringham Drive house, onto the front porch. As it lifted its head, the hood was visible.
After confirming it was the snake, Animal Control officers moved the camera crews back before moving in to capture it.
Early Tuesday, a 911 call from that home sparked the search.

She said she felt safe and really happy. Getting outside on my deck or stepping out on my deck gives me a sense of freedom. The snake seems to have a lot of problems, though.
There has been a missing zebra cobra in a north Raleigh neighborhood where a striped snake is laying out on a porch.
The snake, a zebra cobra, can spit up to 9 feet and is faster than most snakes, making even a morning walk with the dog scary. The African Snakebite Institute reports that this snake is very dangerous. Venom can cause the nervous system to shut down in victims.
An immediate reaction to the poison of a cobra is pain, swelling, irritation, vomiting, and diarrhea. In the next few hours, a heavy fever would occur, as well as respiratory difficulty.
An experienced veterinarian, Dr. Salina Locke, treats all kinds of pets at the Avian and Exotic Animal Care.
There is no evidence that this species of cobra bites. She said they are more likely to spray their venom . they are very precise and go straight for the eyes.

Most bites occur when a person is sleeping. Bite victims may suffer health problems for years, research reveals.
