Glue trap seals 28-day search in north Raleigh for venomous zebra cobra.
Despite the consultation and preparation by animal control officers, the glue trap finally caught a venomous zebra cobra on the porch of a home in north Raleigh on Wednesday night, ending an eventful 48-hour period that attracted attention throughout North Carolina.
To remove the glue fully from its body, the cobra was guided into a red bucket and moved to a safe location.
The WRAL cameras captured the striped snake crawling out of the siding of a Sandringham Drive house, onto the front porch. Lifting its head, it was able to see its hood.

The Wildlife Control officers moved camera crews back after confirming that this is the snake, then went in to attempt to capture it.
Early Tuesday, early Tuesday morning, a 911 call from inside the same house sparked the search.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. Following hours of consultation and preparation by police and animal control officers, a zebra cobra was caught on a Raleigh porch on Wednesday night, coming to an end in North Carolina after nearly 48 hours of turmoil.
Cobra was placed in red bucket and moved to a safe location to fully remove glue from its body.
As WRAL's cameras captured it earlier in the day, a striped snake slithered out of the siding of a house on Sandringham Drive and onto a porch. In looking around, the hood of the vulture was visible.
After confirming the snake was the one they were trying to capture, Animal Control officers moved the camera crews back.
911 call from that same home sparked the search in the early morning Tuesday.

Joan Nelson said she was relieved that the ordeal was over.
I feel much safer and I am really happy, she said. Having gone outside, I feel as though I can now go on my deck and walk around. The snake, though, must have felt bad.
There has been a missing zebra cobra in a north Raleigh neighborhood where a striped snake is laying out on a porch.
Snakes can spit up to nine feet and are faster than most snakes. A morning dog walk turns into a dangerous event when the snake spits this wide. Approximately 60% of all snakebite deaths occur in Africa. It is possible that the venom can damage a victim's nervous system.
Cobra poison causes immediate pain, swelling, irritation, vomiting, and diarrhea. The symptoms would be a heavy fever and breathing problems that could lead to respiratory failure.
Avian and Exotic Animal Care is owned and operated by veterinarian Salina Locke.
Cobras typically do not bite. They spray their venom more often -- they're very accurate, she said.
The risk of keeping this snake as a pet prevents Locke from recommending this snake for this purpose.
Sleeping is when most bites occur. A study shows that those who are bitten may suffer long-term health issues.
Police searched a home on 6917 Chamonix Place on Tuesday, near where the cobra was last seen.
There were four visits by police to that house in March in connection with an animal issue. Following the sighting on Monday and Tuesday of the zebra cobra on a porch about half a mile away, they returned.
The county records show that Keith and Rebecca Gifford live at that address. According to a Facebook account linked to Keith Gifford's name, he has several photos of snakes he claims to own with his son, Christopher.
Christopher Gifford has over 460000 followers on his TikTok account. In one of his posts, he claims to have a 7-foot-long zebra cobra.
