A glue trap ends a days-long search in north Raleigh for a venomous zebra cobra.
As a result of hours of consultation between law enforcement and animal control officers, a venomous zebra cobra was captured on a north Raleigh porch Wednesday night, capping a 48-hour case involving North Carolina media.
A red bucket was used to place the cobra in the bucket and to transport it to a location where all glue could be removed.
Earlier in the day, WRAL's cameras caught the snake crawling out of a siding onto a porch on Sandringham Drive. A hood was visible wherever it turned its head.
Camera crews had to be redirected after Animal Control officers confirmed it was a snake before moving in to try to capture it.
This same residence had called 911 early Tuesday, sparking the search.

N.C., and Raleigh, N.C. Following a 48-hour saga that garnered attention from across North Carolina, a venomous zebra cobra was captured on a north Raleigh porch on Wednesday night, capping an incident that drew widespread attention.
After guiding the cobra into a bucket, the glue over its body was carefully removed.
Earlier in the day, WRAL's cameras caught the snake crawling out of a siding onto a porch on Sandringham Drive. When it lifted its head to look around, its hood was visible.
The Wildlife Control officers moved camera crews back after confirming that this is the snake, then went in to attempt to capture it.
A 911 call from the same location prompted the search early Tuesday morning.

Joan Nelson expressed relief that the ordeal is over.
I feel a lot safer, said she. I feel extremely happy. It feels good to be outside now, even walking on my deck. The snake seems to have a lot of problems, though.
A zebra cobra has been missing from a north Raleigh neighborhood where this stunted snake is seen.
Even a morning dog walk can prove dangerous for this snake, a zebra cobra that can spit up to nine feet. It is a very dangerous snake according to the African Snakebite Institute. An animal's venom could cause the victim's nervous system to shut down.
Anyone exposed to the poison of the cobra would experience immediate pain, swelling, irritation, vomiting, and diarrhea. Following a heavy fever and breathing problems, you might lose your breath and may die.

Cobras of this type are rarely known to bite. It is more likely that they will spray their venom . They are very accurate and go straight for the eyes.
Despite the risks involved, Locke does not recommend keeping this snake as a pet.
Sleeping people are more likely to be bitten. Bite victims can experience health problems for decades, research shows.
It has been reported that police searched a home on 6917 Chamonix Place, near the location where the cobra was last spotted.
A police officer visited that home four times in March for an animal issue. Following the sighting on Monday and Tuesday of the zebra cobra on a porch about half a mile away, they returned.
The records of the county show Rebecca and Keith Gifford live at the address. A Facebook account associated with Keith Gifford shows several photos of snakes that Christopher Gifford also owns.
Christopher Gifford has 460000 followers on TikTok. He says he has a 7-foot-long zebra cobra on one of his posts.
