The venomous zebra cobra found in north Raleigh is trapped by a glue trap.
Despite the consultation and preparation by animal control officers, a glue trap snared a venomous zebra cobra on a north Raleigh porch Wednesday night, ending an eventful 48-hour period that attracted attention throughout North Carolina.
A red bucket was used to place the cobra in the bucket and to transport it to a location where all glue could be removed.
As WRAL's cameras captured it earlier in the day, a striped snake slithered out of the siding of a house on Sandringham Drive and onto a porch. When it lifted its head to look around, the top of its hood was visible.
Officers from Animal Control moved the cameras back after confirming that it was the snake, trying to capture it before moving in.
A 911 call from the same location prompted the search early Tuesday morning.

Joan Nelson expressed relief that the ordeal is over.
She said she feels much safer now and is very happy. Now that I'm outside, I can go on my deck and have a walk. Though I do feel a little sorry for the snake.
A striped snake lies out on a porch in a north Raleigh neighborhood where a zebra cobra has disappeared.
The snake is a zebra cobra and can spit up to nine feet long, making even a morning dog walk a daunting task. The African Snakebite Institute reports that this snake is very dangerous. A victim's nervous system could shut down if stung with venom.
Anyone who has been poisoned by the cobra will feel pain, swelling, irritation, vomiting, and diarrhea. It would then lead to a high fever and breathing problems, which could cause respiratory failure.
A veterinarian at Avian and Exotic Animal Care, Salina Locke, treats all sorts of animals there.
Cobras of this kind usually do not bite. She said they are more likely to spray their venom . they are very precise and go straight for the eyes.
A pet of this snake is not recommended because of the risks, according to Locke.
The majority of bites occur during sleep. A study shows that those who are bitten may suffer long-term health issues.
During a search on Tuesday afternoon, police searched the home on 6917 Chamonix Place, near where the cobra was last seen.
There was an animal issue at that home in March. Zebra cobras were seen on a porch a half mile away on Monday and Tuesday, after this was initially reported.
There are records in the county indicating Keith and Rebecca Gifford live at that address. A Facebook account associated with Keith Giffords shows several photos of snakes, which he identifies as being his son's, Christopher.
TikTok user Christopher Gifford has more than 460000 followers. He claims to have a zebra cobra seven feet long on one of his posts.
