Spirit Airlines Announcement # + Details: An update of all announcements and deals from Spirit Airlines.

Spirit Airlines announced that it has entered into an agreement to purchase Frontier Airlines for $4.6 billion. Under the terms of the agreement, Spirit will acquire all outstanding shares of Frontier Airlines for $3.75 per share in cash, excluding assumption of debt, and pay $2.25 per share in cash to purchase the outstanding shares of Frontier Airlines common stock and assume a total of $1.8 billion of debt on the Frontier Airlines system (excluding assumption of debt).
The deal was approved by both boards of directors at each company on February 7th and will be effective immediately with completion expected to occur on February 16th.

Spirit Airlines is a low cost airline based in Las Vegas. It operates as a subsidiary or affiliate of Frontier Airlines, operating flights to its primary hub at McCarran International Airport in Las Vegas. The airline was founded in 1993 and began operation on March 12, 1994. It is the first airline ever to fly nonstop from McCarran International Airport to Chicago O'Hare International Airport (ORD) and Seattle/Tacoma International Airport (SEA).
