Part 4 - The Reflexology Techniques

THE SPEED OF YOUR REFLEXOLOGY TREATMENTIS IMPORTANT

Nervous or acute sick patients will need to be calmed down.
Therefore your massage will be slow and rhythmically, calming.

Tired or chronically ill patient may need stimulation.
Therefore you will massage quick and stimulating.

There are 4 main speed combinations
There are 4 massage rhythm
• Fast movement & strong pressure
• Fast movement & weak pressure
• Slow movement & strong pressure
• Slow movement & weak pressure

SEDATION TECHNIQUE
In treatment of acute pain, like toothache, you can use a sedation technique. This technique involves a constant hard pressure on a painful reflexpoint. You will start of with a pressure which will just be tolerated by your patient. You will find that after about 20sec. you can increase the pressure. Continue this for 2-3min., slowly increasing the pressure.
Advise your patient, while applying this technique, to use deep breathing.

LENGTH OF THE TREATMENT
A good Reflexology Massage can take up to
1 hour
30 min for each foot.
In this time you will get a good picture about the state of health of your patient.
Subsequent treatments could be shorter but certainly don't have to be.

After treatment the patient should have a 30min. rest. In that time it is best not to talk or even read, just relax.

It is obviously not a good idea, to go for a long walk in tight shoe's after a treatment.
Give the feet and the body a chance to adjust to the treatment.

SEQUENCE OF TREATMENT
We always work on both feet in a specific order.

The body is divided into systems, and so are the feet.

The treatment sequence is to massage one body zone or system at a time, one after another.

In that way, all parts of the feet are massaged a few times from all direction.
NOTE! >
A reflex point could be painful putting on pressure from one direction but not from another!

START ON THE HEAD > THE HEAD ZONES

Always work on both feet.
This means massaging the reflex zones, alternating on both feet.

The Head Zones cover some common problem areas,
esp. Sinus, Earache, Headache, Neckproblems, Toothache, Eye problems and even the Pituitary Gland.

Movement, stretching and rolling of the big toe (hallux), resembles stretching of the Neck!

Each toe is massage on top, bottom and sides.

Teeth:
Zone 1 > Incisors
Zone 2 > Canine or Eyeteeth
Zone 3 > Molar - Anterior
Zone 4 > Molar - Posterior
Zone 5 > Wisdom Teeth
