We’ve all wondered what it looks like to take a move in Spirit Airlines. As a pilot, we’ve always been curious about the experience of flying on the best airline in the world — and how their customers experience it.
While we may not have access to every aspect of their customer service experience, they do share some insights that I believe are worth sharing:

3. Focus on improving your most common customers' experiences


Spirit Airlines, formerly named Allegiant Air, is an American low cost carrier headquartered in Orlando, Florida. The airline flies to nearly 100 destinations throughout the United States, Puerto Rico and the US Virgin Islands. The company has been cited by the U.S. Government Accountability Office as a “failing” airline.
Based on Spirit airline customer service , Spirit was ranked as having the lowest customer satisfaction score of any airline in its class in 2016 (with a score of -90 out of 100).
In May 2017, Spirit Airline announced that it would be voluntarily retiring all aircraft at its Orlando hub and consolidating operations into two smaller hubs (in Cherokee County and Kissimmee) over the next two years.
The planes are scheduled to be retired by late 2019 or early 2020. As part of this announcement, Spirit also announced that it would not be offering any dates for new flights for 2018 at both existing Orlando and Kissimmee Hubs or any future Hubs in North America or Mexico as a result of these changes; however, travel agency partners have already booked full flights from those recent Hubs on a limited basis for 2018.
In October 2017, Spirit announced that it would be adding seven new routes to its schedule from September 2018 through March 2019:
- Chicago Midway – Washington DC via Fort Lauderdale (LAX)- Miami (MIA)- Detroit – Fort Lauderdale (LAX)- Atlanta – Fort Lauderdale (LAX)- San Francisco– Oakland– Burbank (Burbank)- Washington DC- Miami– Fort Lauderdale (MIA)
The addition was delayed due to significant permitting delays along with a lack of available slots on some routes but has now been completed and will commence operation in September 2018. In February 2018 Spirit announced they were adding three new routes to their schedule:
- San Francisco- Oakland/Burbank via Burbank- New York JFK via Newark/LaGuardia .
In October 2017 Spirit announced plans to add seven new routes:
- Chicago Midway - San Jose-Houston via Dallas/Ft. Worth- Dallas/Ft Worth– Houston via Dallas/Ft Worth.- Denver – Denver via Denver.- Minneapolis – Minneapolis via Minneapolis.- Seattle – Seattle via Seattle.- Portland – Portland via Portland.- Phoenix – Phoenix via Phoenix.- Tampa Bay – Tampa Bay via Tampa Bay.- West Palm Beach – West Palm Beach via West Palm Beach-.
