If you have just started to play poker or if winning is what you always want to do, then make sure you pick easy opponents to bet. This may sound like a very obvious way but it is a fact that some players know how to win better than others because of their experience or sheer good luck although the latter is of secondary importance. Also, if you are having a bad time, decrease the size of bet or simply walk away and leave it for another day.

Everybody has heard that you should bet more than check and raise more than call, etc etc. But, too often players will bet without having a reason for betting. There should be a reaction that you hope to get from your opponent(s) by betting and your betting should convey something to them, be it true or false. If your bets do not fall into these categories, then you are making them in the wrong places for the wrong reasons.

This is pretty hefty and makes up the remainder of your game, but isn't 100% required. If you are lacking this area in your Texas Poker strategy don't worry because you are not the first. But any successful poker player has a strategy for this.
