Notes

I got home from school on Friday afternoon, I had soccer practice after school. When I arrived home my friend Matt called out, “Hey Casey, How was soccer”, I shouted back, “Good, how about Volley Ball?” She didn’t seem to hear me, but I didn't shout again, Matt had walked inside. When I got home my Grandmother wasn’t home, which is unusual. I don’t live with my mom because she passed away when I was 3 in an airplane crash. I had looked around the house for my Grandmother, I couldn't find her, I called her phone but there was no answer, I walked into the living room and tried again, I heard a faint ringing in the distance, I went to look for it and I found my Grandmothers ‘old’ cell phone. I was worried now, she is always at home when I arrive home, sometimes she is out back gardening, but she wasn't.
I went over to Matt's colonial style house, which was shingled with red shingles, and a white paneling around the outside, they had a big yard which had 2 trees placed perfectly diagonal from the front door. I rang Matt’s doorbell, I was greeted with his younger sister, Amelia. Amelia squealed and jumped into my arms. Amelia and I had always been close, ever since I was 12 and she was 10, we had been best friends, every time I go over to Matt’s house, Amelia and I talk about Amelia’s boyfriend Alex, she always talks about in the 3rd grade when she told everyone they got married on the playground. Once Amelia and I greeted each other, she called for Matt to come, when Matt came downstairs, we walked outside. I asked Matt if he seen my grandma leave or if his parents did, he said, “I haven’t seen my parents today,” I told him how my grandma had left her cell phone in the living room.
Matt and I talked more about how we haven’t seen our parents, when we were talking Matt interrupted saying, “Did you say your grandma left her phone in your living room?” In response I immediately said yes. He asked me more questions, we figured that maybe they left to go shopping together since our families has been best friends ever since my family moved to Palm Bay, Florida. Amelia had left an hour ago to go to stay at her friend’s house. I asked Matt if I could hang out at his house until his parents and my grandma got back, he said yes. After a few hours, we started talking about school, then sports, I helped Matt cook tacos because his parents and my grandmother was not home yet. After Matt and I started eating, Amelia called Matt and I barely heard the conversation, but I could dictate the phrase, "Her parents are gone" after Matt hung up he looked a little pale as if he had seem a ghost. Matt and I sat there in silence for a few minutes until I finally spoke up and said, "What's wrong," Matt talked extremely fast, I could barely hear him, I asked him to Calm down and then to talk.
