Woodrow Wilson fourteen points was a statement given on January 8th of 1918 by the U.S. President Woodrow Wilson in which declared WWI was being fought for a good cause and wanted to establish a postwar peace in Europe. This statement was intended to generate support for what Woodrow's vision of peace was between allies. According to the history of the state website the fourteen points for example, included in his statement that he wanted and open diplomacy which was having no secretes between the allies, free navigation in the sea in war and in peace to move around territorial waters, get rid of trade barriers among the nations and create equal trade, reduce domestic safety which were armaments, to adjust colonial claims of observation, conquer Russian territories, preserve the sovereignty of Belgian, restore French territory, adjust Italian boundaries to divide Australian-Hungary, help Balkan nations by freeing access to the sea for Siberia and redraw their territory boundaries, protection from the minorities in Turkey, independence from Poland including access to the sea, and the creation of the League of Nations as a protection of the guarantees in political independence and territorial integrity to small nations alike. Given this information helped create a better understanding in the Mastering the TEKS World History book in that "he announced America's war in fourteen points. What this means is that people around the world saw the vision Woodrow had and shared the common interest in security. The creation for these fourteen points helped politically impact by the guarantees of independence and the surrender of the German WWI to arise the development of the Treaty of Versailles. The Treaty of Versailles was the treaty between allied powers and Germany in which was signed at the end of the first war. The treaty was a political impact stating that Germany had to pay for repairs while giving territory to the European nations-states. It highlighted the disarmament's of Germany and was a creation of the contact of The League of Nations. The treaty economically made Kaiser the German emperor borrow money by selling war bonds to the Germans in which put them into a large debt this as a result led to Germany loosing it's spot in economically being the second advanced nation on the world. The Treaty changed the boundaries of Germany. Based on "The Holocaust: A Learning Site for Students" the modifications made include the receiving of Prussia and Silesia to Poland, the addition of Hutchinson District to Czechoslovakia, Eupen and Malmedy to Belgium, Northern Schleswig to Denmark, the return of Alsace-Lorraine to France, Memel placed into the power of Lithuanian Control, Industrial Saar region in the hands of the League of Nations for 15 years , and the demilitarization of Rhineland in which meant that none of the German forces were able to be permitted into the area. In addition to the boundary changes made the the mandate system was created at Versailles. The mandate system was a compromise between the Allies' wish to retain German and Turkish colonies and their truce that taking over of their territory was not the target in the war. The system controlled the colonies from defeated countries in which tried to come and take over the territories it also insured that there would be no slaves and there would be equal trading. The system impacted the countries and helped them mature the colonies into becoming their own states. In conclusion, the Treaty of Versailles, the Woodrow Wilson's Fourteen Points and The Mandate System politically and economically impacted during World War I and the Russian Revolution.
