How do I know which techniques are right for me?
Ida Rolf was an American therapist and a practicing structural integration therapist. Rolf, an adult, was arrested for her involvement in an attempted murder. She was eventually acquitted due to the lack of evidence or witnesses. Rolf would find redemption after numerous failures in court. Structural Integrity, on the contrary, deals with the way the mind perceives the body and how our bodies can help us heal ourselves.

Structural Integration is a course that teaches the fundamentals of the mind-body link and what it takes to be whole. Rolf discovered we all have one mind, and that both experience pain and trauma simultaneously. Our bodies release chemicals into our blood when one part of the body feels pain while the mind is busy with other things. Massage therapists use their body or hands to relieve pressure on the affected area and reduce the pain. This can result in better healing.

By observing Rolf's observations on the way the human body and mind work together he was able to design and develop a type of massage therapy that involved the use of gravity. Gravity is a force that balances the forces between the affected parts of the body. Both sides are able to regain their balance, suppleness and stability. The affected muscles can then regain some flexibility and mobility after an injury, surgery or other procedure.

After the massage ends and the client relaxes, the therapist then works with the individual muscles to help them become stronger and more mobile. During this recovery time, the client must ensure that injured areas of the body are able to move freely so that they don't continue to be damaged or strain. Massage therapy is recommended for patients who feel well and are beginning to heal. By using gravity to restore mobility, many problems that were a problem before now have been completely resolved.

Some people might find the idea of a massage that does not involve manipulation of the body and hands strange. For those individuals who have not had any formal training in massage or have only had brief exposure to the practice, structural integration is all too new to them. They are not sure what this is or how it can be done. They also feel uncomfortable about being naked and vulnerable during a massage session. Fortunately, there are professional therapists out there who understand these concerns and have developed a set of techniques for clients who wish to have a massage with little or no manipulation of the whole body.

Structural integration is an effective and natural way for the massage therapist to move the body while providing massage therapy. A few pressure points can make a big difference in the overall health of the body. While many clients want to get rid of most of their clothing, there are some clients who still love their clothes and would prefer the massage therapist massage their legs and buttocks. This is where the technique of structural integration comes in to play.

It is best to schedule ten sessions if you plan to use structural integration. A structural integration massage should be repeated at least ten times. This will improve the body's response to the massage therapist, and will allow for deeper relaxation. The client can expect to get a gentle massage throughout the 10 sessions. Each session will last approximately fifteen minutes.

The first session will involve structural integration massage. The client will be asked for undressing so that the massage therapist may work on deeper tissues. After the client is relaxed and comfortable, the therapist will use gentle pressure on different pressure points. Other types of bodywork such as massage or Swedish massage can be included in structural integration. These types of massage are beneficial and can help people suffering from chronic pain. Swedish massage helps to reduce the stress by relaxing the client so they can focus on the positive aspects of the therapy and not think about their negative feelings.
