I waited for Arnold while rereading his book and trying to use his strategies myself in online tournaments. The short of it was - it wasn't working for me. So click here reverted back to my own mzone based tournament strategy and began winning again.
The bubble is the last person eliminated without winning money. In a standard 1table Sit n Go tournament, the person eliminated in 4th place is the bubble player. Many people play TAG at the bubble. You should play LAG! People are more likely to fold hands they would otherwise play because they are afraid of being eliminated without getting paid. Picking up chips now will help you later.
poker betting strategy One note of caution however. If and when people do call your "opener" raise you can put them on a long suit hand. Or at least you'll know ipso facto they are an aggressive player and you need to proceed with caution.
Understand the site you have chosen inside and out. You MUST pay attention to the particular nuances of each and every site you'll choose to play on. Not all formats will be the same and the individual interfaces will differ greatly too. You must know the house rules and betting protocols by heart. Don't skimp on your preparation.
Another tactic to use it by really pushing forward with a relentless aggressive betting strategy. It takes a little bit of faith but I find this tactics pays out more than almost any other.
On the flip side, you can use the continuation bet to build the pot when you actually have a real hand. One of the basic premises of poker is to get money in the pot when you have a strong hand. What better way to do it than to start betting right off the bat?
Remember that it is much easier to make an all-in bet than to call one. All you need to do to win the hand is bet when you're sure your opponent will fold.
Often the answers to these questions will give you a better indication of whether or not you should call or not. It's better to just focus on winning money from worse/bad players than taking on better/more advanced players.
