The storage of online videos is not guaranteed. Websites can shut down or cease to exist. Here's how to back up your social media presence on your laptop.

This was not about Periscope. It was a tool I often used time ago. And even last summer 2020 when there were disturbances in the city, I was able make a few live streaming. Then Periscope TV is closing down and all the videos will be gone within a couple of weeks. What do I do? The entire video must be downloaded to my laptop to be saved offline. I am passionately involved in underground movements, politics and other underground movements. Therefore, I film often, save them, and post them on my Youtube channel. Then, every time the live stream is finished the footage is downloaded to my laptop. It's a breeze. The video I would like to save on Periscope or Youtube is opened. I then copy the URL using the share button. Then, I go to the website for downloading videos then paste the video URL there, and in a matter of seconds I'll be presented with a range of options to download video. I can download it to my desktop or laptop, transfer it to other platforms, and save it for my family and friends ones. Some sites are not able to help with Periscope, but this one is a good choice, it can manage m3u8 files that other websites usually download for you.. These are useful, don't get me wrong but they're actually based on fragments from online video feeds, so playing this file in VLC while it's fantastic, doesn't actually accomplish the task as the video isn't on your machine, it's still online and plays from online as the player loads the short fragments 1 at a time...

You can make windows copy to combine these fragments and then create a standard 1-long video file. This is due to the format used for creating the fragments, MpegTS, also referred to as transport stream. It contains all the information required for decoding video in each of the fragments and makes them separate from the stream in itself so that each new user can start streaming seamlessly. The browser also saves information by downloading 360 10 second videos. It only downloads the streams that you are watching. Your player will get 3-4 fragments from the 25-second stretch and the 1-2 fragments that follow in case it continues to watch the stream. This helps greatly reduce total download required to watch just 25 sec from the center of the stream. - no need to download whole 1hr of video prior to that 25sec..
