From 1750 to 1915 there were similarities and differences between the Latin Americas and the United States of America when it came to the issues of politics, economics, and demographics. Some of these similarities were that they both had struggles with the indigenous people, they had constitutional problems, and they both had territorial expansion. Some of the differences were that the United States of America was industrialized, while the countries of Latin America were not, and that Latin America had less experience when it came to self-government.
One of the differences was that The United States of America had territorial expansion. The way that the United States of America gained land was through the Louisiana purchase. The Louisiana purchase was when Napoleon Bonaparte sold the Louisiana territory to protect France. Another way that the United States of America gained land was from the Mexican-American war. At the time the Mexican territory included Texas, California, and New mexico. Because of the war, Mexico was forced to cede territory in the Treaty of Guadalupe Hildago in exchange for 15 million dollars. Latin America didn't have territorial expansion, but they redistributed land by following the Mexican constitution. Another difference was that the United states of America stayed as one group, while the Latin Americas fragmented into numerous different states.
