As a result of hours of consultation between law enforcement and animal control officers, a venomous zebra cobra was caught with a glue trap on a north Raleigh porch on Wednesday, a 48-hour incident that generated nationwide interest.
To ensure fully removal of the glue from the cobra's body, we guided it into a red bucket and took it to a safe area.
The WRAL cameras captured the striped snake crawling out of the siding of a Sandringham Drive house, onto the front porch. Its hood was visible when it raised its head to look around.
When Animal Control officers confirmed the snake was the one they moved camera crews back before they attempted to catch it.
911 call from that same house sparked the search at the beginning of Tuesday.

As the glue was slowly removed from the cobra's body, it was placed into a red bucket and taken to a safe location.

Neighbor Joan Nelson said the ordeal was over.
She said she was really happy and that she felt much safer now. It feels good to be able to walk on the deck and outside. The snake seems to have a lot of problems, though.
There has been a missing zebra cobra in a north Raleigh neighborhood where a striped snake is laying out on a porch.
The snake, a zebra cobra, is extremely fast and can spit up to nine feet away, making a walk with the dog even scarier. African Snakebite Institute has described the snake as very dangerous. A victim's nervous system might shut down upon ingestion of the venom.
An immediate reaction to the poison of a cobra is pain, swelling, irritation, vomiting, and diarrhea. Following a heavy fever, breathing problems would result, leading to respiratory failure.
Avian and Exotic Animal Care is owned and operated by veterinarian Salina Locke.
Cobras typically do not bite. They spray their venom more often -- they are very accurate and attack straight in the eye, according to her.
According to Locke, this snake is not suitable for keeping as a pet.
Bite incidents are most common during sleep. Health problems can linger for years for people who are bit, according to research.
Tuesday afternoon, police searched a home at 6917 Chamonix Place, near the last location where the cobra was spotted.
In March, the police visited that residence four times for an animal issue. The zebra cobra was found about a half mile away on Monday and Tuesday.
The county records show that Keith and Rebecca Gifford live at that address. A Facebook account associated with Keith Giffords shows several photos of snakes, which he identifies as being his son's, Christopher.
Christopher Gifford has 460000 followers on TikTok. On one of his posts, he claims to own a 7-foot zebra cobra.
