Most people don’t know that less than 10% of PTFE thread seal tape used within the United States is actually made in the United States. And though there are specifications for imported tape, the reality is the thickness and density of your foreign-made tape is probably much lower than it claims to be. In reality, imported tapes often comprise lower than half the PTFE required by the certification they declare to meet. Much more troubling, you’ll be onerous pressed to find a single American made tape on most retail retailer shelves.

So if you’re like us, you may take a micrometer all the way down to your local hardware store to see for yourself if the tapes they offer meet the specs.

But we’ll save you the difficulty. We did the thickness take a look at, and none of them passed. Shocked? Customized PTFE seal tape were, too.

SealPak Valve Stem Packing

This easily molded product is designed to compress within a threadless house to kind an impenetrable seal in faucets, valves, plungers, and shafts. SealPak can also be wound between flanges to type a waterproof, chemically inert seal rather than rubber gaskets.
