It’s set upon a raised platform, making it seem like it’s a bedframe when really, it’s not. The nifty thing about this room is that shelf that doubles as a desk. It’s neatly placed on the wall, leaving plenty of space for storage underneath if needed. Thee fans have been proudly displayed on the wall with matching floral bedding and pillows. The rest of the room is a plain white with brown trim and accents, even the bed is brown.

Paint is an easy, relatively inexpensive way to cover the knotty pine. The house we bought had dark wood paneling in the living room. We primed & painted it a cream color to get us through until we had the resources to remove the paneling & do drywall.

I have found that going over each room a second and third time helps. I make it a habit now to continually go through each room and see if there isn’t something else I can let go of. Sometimes we are not quite ready to part with certain items. Once you realize how nice it is to have clean, uncluttered space, it helps you with the “letting go” of some of those things. My bedroom has a lamp on a table, a bed, and a dresser with one small floral arrangement on it. Two beautifully framed pictures on the wall of my children, and that’s it.

Add personality to your minimalist bedroom by hanging abstract prints over your headboard. Make sure they are minimalist in nature and incorporate soft colors and simple shapes to keep the bedroom feeling calm rather than busy. Having a minimalist bedroom doesn't mean you have to have a room devoid of any pattern or color. This bedroom still feels minimalist because the striped pattern has the same color as the brown duvet and pillows, making it feel cohesive.
How To Create A Minimalist Apartment: Guide & Ideas
One of the most important aspects of minimalist decor is to create space within your room to keep things feeling airy and open. Other pieces of minimalist bedroom decor can be equally handy. A cozy couch added to the corner of your room might just help you separate your space. Many decorators will tell you a minimalist bedroom requires neutral colors.
Why do I love being a minimalist? More freedom and flexibility. Another reason to love minimalism is because owning less gives you so much more freedom and flexibility. Not only will you have more time, more space, less stress, more money, etc. But you simply become unburdened from “stuff”.

A big file cabinet can be bulky and difficult to keep organized, so if you’re willing to work digitally, buy a combination scanner/printer. These aren’t much more expensive than basic printers, and will save you in the long run from mountains of clutter. Scan bills and other documents you want to hold onto, store them on your computer or an external hard drive, and toss out the paper copies.

Take a page from our friend @kellybananatree, who took extra care to create balance by coordinating the colors of well-placed props. How we choose to decorate our home is a form of self expression. That being said, you don’t need every single Hobby Lobby sign cluttering up your walls, or other knick-knacks covering up your dresser. A few carefully chosen items that you love are all you need. You could paint the room any color of your choosing, however the science of color tells us that most people find shades of white, gray, blue and green to be soothing. If you have junk and clothes everywhere your bedroom is never going to feel clean or relaxing.
When choosing for the color palette that you want, make sure it blends well with your pillow covers, duvets, or rugs. When you display too much on your walls, it can become a distraction. Just ask designer Leanne Ford, whose master bedroom design won HGTV’s competition series Rock the Block with its concrete-overlaid walls. Image ViaIf the neutral color palette with a light pop of color is still just too soft for your tastes, you can opt for a bit of bold contrast to create a dramatic flair. Ford recommends adding wood and other natural elements—be it a rough-hewn wooden bedframe or a simple olive branch in a vase—to liven up a bright, all-white room. This will leave plenty of floor space for whatever other furnishings you need.
Choose furniture that you like, bearing in mind that you want it to blend into the background, not stand out. Less is more, yet not at the expense of function and necessity. A chair can serve many purposes beyond seating; use it for storage or to create a defined area in your room, like a dressing corner.

Once you've gotten through each room, you can iron out the fine details. If you've decided to adopt the minimalist aesthetic for your apartment, there are some general rules and guidelines that it pays to know upfront. Though no two minimalist apartments are exactly alike, some similarities are abundantly evident with a little searching. Before making a final decision regarding whether minimalism is right for you, it's important to consider both the advantages and drawbacks of a minimalist apartment. This will also apply to some collectible items, photos hanging on the wall and other bedroom debris.

Such furniture may not draw the eye immediately on its own, but it will help improve your bedroom’s overall design by creating a more cohesive style. You can describe a minimalist as an individual who wishes to deal with fewer material possessions. Perhaps you do not like clutter or do not feel the desire to have many items to be pleased. If maybe you’re this personality type and are searching for a means to reorganize or redecorate your room, these minimalist men’s bedroom ideas are among your interests.

My mom stayed with me to help with the kiddos, my mother-in-law helped with the design and shopping, and my father-in-law took charge of the wood accents & installation. Arm chair– we added a chair to give dimension to the space and create a nice nook for reading or working. Upholstered chairs and a round tulip table beautifully juxtapose an angular banquette. A capiz shell chandelier sparkles overhead without distracting from expansive views. Warm-up a minimalist room by contrasting clean lines with one organic, over-the-top item, such as the showy peacock feathers in this midcentury entryway.

All of the colors in the room should complement this color. Holding on to a shirt you’ve had since high school can be very sentimental, but I promise you do not need it. Just imagine how much freer you’ll feel once you get rid of all the clutter. Everything you own should have a designated place in your home. That way, once you use something, you always know where it is supposed to go so it doesn’t sit out and become clutter. The broom should always have a place to hang on the back of the door or in a closet.
