The new ASUS gaming monitors have a 4K update and up to 360 Hz

ASUS and nVidia hit CES 2020 with two new gaming monitors: ASUS ROG Swift 360Hz, as the name suggests, offers a stunning 360Hz refresh rate, while ASUS ROG Swift PG32UQX features a 32-inch 4K Mini LED display, 144 Hz and local dimming from Full Array.

ASUS ROG Swift 360Hz: blinked, lost
This 24.5 inch monitor has a Full HD resolution (1920 x 1080 pixels), featuring a display provided by AUO; The idea of a peripheral that can provide 50% higher refresh rates than faster gaming monitors (such as the 240Hz Samsung CRG5) comes from nVidia, thanks to player feedback from the eSports scene. No wonder that this equipment is aimed at those who have balls in their needles and play professionally.

The new monitor supports G-Sync technology, nVidia’s technology that reduces frame dropping during games, and thanks to the high refresh rate, manufacturers promise an extremely smooth gaming experience, with a new frame displayed on average every 3 milliseconds, or 54 frames every blink of an eye. nVidia of course recommends its RTX line of graphics cards for better performance.

Additionally, not every game will hit this high framerate: targets are old dodgy competitive landscapes such as Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, Rainbow Six: Siege, Overwatch, DotA 2, League of Legends, and Fortnite among others. similar and equally light titles. So don’t expect 360Hz in games that support ray tracing.

nVidia and ASUS promise to present the ROG Swift 360HZ datasheet in the coming days, which will be available for testing at CES 2020.

ASUS ROG Swift PG32UQX: 4K @ 144 Hz
ROG Swift 360Hz was not the only ASUS display at CES 2020: ASUS ROG Swift PG32UQX itself is a 32-inch monitor, equipped with a mini LED display and 4K resolution (3840 x 2160 pixels) with nVidia G-Sync support but with a more “conservative” 144 Hz refresh rate.

Moreover, it is HDR compatible and best suited for running heavy titles with rich details and high frame rates.

This monitor has a full matrix local dimming function provided by 1152 LED zones. This means it has a more accurate light level, triggered only when needed and with less leakage into dark areas, thus providing more realistic blacks and less grays. Usually this type of Full Array is reserved only for high-end TV models like LG’s OLED and Samsung’s QLED, so it’s worth seeing a monitor with the same feature.

ASUS preferred the 32-inch monitor to 27 “to allow more consumers and gamers to use a large desktop computer with great resolution and excellent color reproduction. The manufacturer guarantees that ROG Swift PG32UQX provides” the best 4K and HDR gaming experience on monitors “, which can also be seen at CES 2020.

When and how much?
ASUS has yet to disclose the prices of both monitors, as well as further details on their specifications; availability of ROG Swift 360Hz will be informed throughout 2020, while ROG Swift PG32UQX will be responsible for local representatives of the manufacturer. As such, it should take a while for both to show up in Brazil, and if they do, they shouldn’t be cheap.
