North Raleigh's days-long search for a venomous zebra cobra ends with a glue trap.
As a result of hours of consultation between law enforcement and animal control officers, law enforcement and animal control officers trapped the venomous snake on a north Raleigh porch Wednesday night, a 48-hour incident that generated nationwide interest.
The cobra was guided into a red bucket and taken to a safe location so that the glue could be removed completely.
An earlier image captured by WRAL show the snake scrabbling to the front porch of a house on Sandringham Drive, crawling through the siding. While raising its head to take a look around, its hood was visible.
Camera crews were moved back after the officers confirmed it was the snake before attempting to catch it.
911 call from that same home sparked the search in the early morning Tuesday.

ARLINGTON, N.C. Despite hours of consultation and preparation of law enforcement and animal control officers, a zebra cobra was caught on a Raleigh porch on Wednesday night, capping an incident that drew widespread attention.
As the cobra was guided into the bucket, it was taken to a safe area where the glue on its body could be removed completely.
Earlier in the day, WRAL's cameras caught the snake crawling out of a siding onto a porch on Sandringham Drive. Its hood was visible when it raised its head to look around.
After confirming it was a snake, Animal Control officers moved the camera crews back of the area and attempted to capture it there.
Early Tuesday, early Tuesday morning, a 911 call from inside the same house sparked the search.

The ordeal is over at last, said neighbor Joan Nelson.
I feel much safer and I am really happy, she said. It feels as if I can now go outside and enjoy the scenery. Despite that, I feel terrible for the snake.

Snakes can spit up to nine feet and are faster than most snakes. A morning dog walk turns into a dangerous event when the snake spits this wide. The African Snakebite Institute reports that this snake is very dangerous. It is possible that the venom can damage a victim's nervous system.
Anyone exposed to the poison of the cobra would experience immediate pain, swelling, irritation, vomiting, and diarrhea. Following a heavy fever and breathing problems, you might lose your breath and may die.
Salina Locke is an experienced veterinarian at Avian and Exotic Animal Care, where she treats all types of pets.
Normally, this cobra species does not bite. The venom is more likely to spray because they are very accurate and go straight for the eye, she said.
Despite the risks involved, Locke doesn't recommend buying this snake for a pet.
Most bites occur while people are sleeping. Researchers found that bit individuals could suffer health issues for years to come.

There was a police search of 6917 Chamonix Place Tuesday afternoon, near the street where the last sighting of the cobra was reported.
Four police officers visited the home in March to investigate an animal problem. Following the zebra cobra's spotting on a porch a half mile away, they returned on Monday and Tuesday.
There are county records showing that Keith and Rebecca Gifford live at that address. A Facebook account associated with Keith Giffords shows several photos of snakes, which he identifies as being his son's, Christopher.
Christopher Gifford has over 460000 followers on his TikTok account. His post claims he has a zebra cobra that is 7 feet long.
