What’s a Proxy Server?
A proxy server is any machine that translates traffic between networks or protocols. It’s an intermediary server separating end-user clients from the destinations that they browse.

Virtual Private Networks and Web content filters are both examples of forward proxies.
What are Reverse Proxies
A reverse proxy server lies in the middle of a network, connecting it to a variety of internal resources. Hundreds of servers may be used to handle requests from a single domain on a huge website. Client requests would be resolved to a computer that would operate as a load balancer to accomplish this. The traffic would then be proxied back to the individual servers via the load balancer.

Popular websites can be cached (a copy of the website is kept locally by a proxy server), and the proxy server will check to see if it has the most recent copy of the site before sending you the cached copy. This implies that when a proxy server receives hundreds of requests at the same time, the proxy server only transmits one request. This saves the organization bandwidth and enhances network speed.
Proxy servers are used by both individuals and businesses to access the internet in a more secret manner. Some proxy servers will alter the web request's IP address and other identifying data. This means the destination server has no idea who initiated the initial request, helping to keep your personal information and surfing habits hidden.
