Glue trap seals 28-day search in north Raleigh for venomous zebra cobra.
Following many hours of consultation and preparation by Animal Control officers, a glue trap was ultimately deployed to capture a venomous zebra cobra on a north Raleigh porch on Wednesday, a 48-hour incident that generated nationwide interest.
A red bucket was used to guide the cobra into a safe location where all glue could be removed from its body.
Earlier in the day, WRAL's cameras caught the snake crawling out of a siding onto a porch on Sandringham Drive. Its hood was visible when it raised its head to look around.
Camera crews had to be redirected after Animal Control officers confirmed it was a snake before moving in to try to capture it.
An early morning 911 call from that same home prompted the search.

In Raleigh, North Carolina. Following a 48-hour saga that garnered attention from across North Carolina, a venomous zebra cobra was caught with a glue trap on a Raleigh porch Wednesday night, coming to an end in North Carolina after nearly 48 hours of turmoil.
Cobra was placed in red bucket and moved to a safe location to fully remove glue from its body.
An earlier image captured by WRAL show the snake scrabbling to the front porch of a house on Sandringham Drive, crawling through the siding. Looking around, its hood was visible as it lifted its head.
Camera crews were moved back after the officers confirmed it was the snake before attempting to catch it.
On Tuesday, police searched the same home after receiving a 911 call there.

Joan Nelson said she was relieved that the ordeal was over.
It makes me really happy and I feel much more secure, she said. Having gone outside, I feel as though I can now go on my deck and walk around. The snake seems to have a lot of problems, though.
A zebra cobra has been missing from a north Raleigh neighborhood where this stunted snake is seen.
The snake, a zebra cobra, is extremely fast and can spit up to nine feet away, making a walk with the dog even scarier. It is very dangerous, according to the African Snakebite Institute. A victim's nervous system might shut down upon ingestion of the venom.
An immediate reaction to the poison of a cobra is pain, swelling, irritation, vomiting, and diarrhea. Following a heavy fever, breathing problems would result, leading to respiratory failure.
Dr. Salina Locke, a veterinarian with Avian and Exotic Animal Care, treats an array of animals.
Cobras typically do not bite. The venom from them, she said, is typically sprayed. She said they are extremely accurate and shoot straight for the eyes.
The risk of keeping this snake as a pet prevents Locke from recommending this snake for this purpose.
Most bites occur while people are sleeping. Bite victims may suffer health problems for years, research reveals.
Police searched a home on 6917 Chamonix Place on Tuesday, near where the cobra was last seen.
In March, there was an issue with the animals at that home. The zebra cobra was found about a half mile away on Monday and Tuesday.
There are records in the county indicating Keith and Rebecca Gifford live at that address. His Facebook account shows several pictures of snakes he claims are owned by his son, Christopher, according to the account.
Christopher Gifford has over 460000 followers on his TikTok account. On one of his posts, he claims to own a 7-foot zebra cobra.
