The venomous zebra cobra found in north Raleigh is trapped by a glue trap.
Following many hours of consultation and preparation by officers from Raleigh police and animal control, a glue trap snared a venomous zebra cobra on a north Raleigh porch Wednesday night, ending an eventful 48-hour period that attracted attention throughout North Carolina.
To remove the glue fully from its body, the cobra was guided into a red bucket and moved to a safe location.
Earlier in the day, WRAL's cameras caught the snake crawling out of a siding onto a porch on Sandringham Drive. Lifting its head, its hood could be seen.
Camera crews had to be redirected after Animal Control officers confirmed it was a snake before moving in to try to capture it.
911 call from that same house sparked the search at the beginning of Tuesday.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. Following a 48-hour saga that garnered attention from across North Carolina, a zebra cobra was caught on a Raleigh porch on Wednesday night, capping an unusual 48-hour saga that garnered national attention.
As the cobra was guided into the bucket, it was taken to a safe area where the glue on its body could be removed completely.
At youtube.com, a striped snake crawled out of the siding of a house on Sandringham Drive onto the front porch of a home earlier in the day. As it lifted its head, the hood was visible.
Camera crews were moved back after the officers confirmed it was the snake before attempting to catch it.
On Tuesday, police searched the same home after receiving a 911 call there.

She said the ordeal is over and she is relieved.
I feel a lot safer, said she. I feel extremely happy. It feels good to be able to walk on the deck and outside. The snake, however, was in a terrible position.

Zebra cobras are fast, can spit up to nine feet, and can spit at high speeds, making even morning dog walks dangerous. The African Snakebite Institute reports that this snake is very dangerous. The venom can cause the nervous system to shut down.
Anyone who has been poisoned by the cobra will feel pain, swelling, irritation, vomiting, and diarrhea. It would then lead to a high fever and breathing problems, which could cause respiratory failure.
Dr. Salina Locke, a veterinarian with Avian and Exotic Animal Care, treats an array of animals.
Cobras of this kind usually do not bite. Venom is more likely to be sprayed by them, she said; they are very accurate and aim straight for the eyes.
The snake is not recommended as a pet by Locke due to its risk.
Sleeping is when most bites occur. Bite victims can experience health problems for decades, research shows.
In the afternoon of Tuesday, police searched a home near the street where the cobra was last spotted, at 6917 Chamonix Place.
There were four visits by police to that house in March in connection with an animal issue. The zebra cobra was found about a half mile away on Monday and Tuesday.

The records of county government indicate that Keith and Rebecca Gifford reside at this address. A Facebook account associated with Keith Gifford shows several photos of snakes that Christopher Gifford also owns.
On TikTok, Christopher Gifford has over 460000 followers. His posts claim he has a 7-foot zebra cobra.
