Raleigh police seal days-long hunt for venomous zebra cobra with glue trap.
Following many hours of consultation and preparation by officers from Raleigh police and animal control, a venomous zebra cobra was captured on Wednesday night by a glue trap, capping a 48-hour case involving North Carolina media.
To remove the glue fully from its body, the cobra was guided into a red bucket and moved to a safe location.
An earlier video interview had captured a striped snake crawling onto a porch on Sandringham Drive from the siding of a house. In looking around, the hood of the vulture was visible.
When officers confirmed it was the snake, they walked back from the camera crew before moving in to try and capture it.
An early morning 911 call from that same home prompted the search.

North Carolina. Despite hours of preparation by animal control and law enforcement officers, a glue trap ultimately trapped a venomous zebra cobra on a north Raleigh porch Wednesday night, coming to an end in North Carolina after nearly 48 hours of turmoil.
To completely remove the glue from its body, the cobra was seated in a red bucket and transported to a safe location.
An earlier image captured by WRAL show the snake scrabbling to the front porch of a house on Sandringham Drive, crawling through the siding. While raising its head to take a look around, its hood was visible.
When Animal Control officers confirmed the snake was the one they moved camera crews back before they attempted to catch it.
Early Tuesday, early Tuesday morning, a 911 call from inside the same house sparked the search.

The ordeal has ended, said Joan Nelson, her neighbor.
It makes me really happy and I feel much more secure, she said. It feels good to be outside now, even walking on my deck. Despite that, I feel terrible for the snake.

There is a striped snake in the yard of a north Raleigh neighborhood where a zebra cobra has gone missing.
Even a morning dog walk can prove dangerous for this snake, a zebra cobra that can spit up to nine feet. The African Snakebite Institute reports that this snake is very dangerous. A victim's nervous system could be shut down by the venom.
Someone who is bitten by the poison of a cobra would feel pain, swelling, gastrointestinal irritation, vomiting, and diarrhea. In the next few hours, a heavy fever would occur, as well as respiratory difficulty.
Dr. Salina Locke, a veterinarian with Avian and Exotic Animal Care, treats an array of animals.
The cobras in this species are not typically biting. The venom sprays more readily, since it is so accurate. they aim right for the eyes, she said.
Due to its dangers, Locke advises against keeping this snake as a pet.
During sleep, most bites occur. The effects of being bitten may last for years, according to research.
In the afternoon of Tuesday, police searched a home near the street where the cobra was last spotted, at 6917 Chamonix Place.
Four officers were dispatched to that home for an animal issue in March. The zebra cobra was spotted on a porch a half mile away on Monday and Tuesday.
Keith and Rebecca Gifford live at that address, according to county records. A Facebook account associated with Keith Gifford shows several photos of snakes that Christopher Gifford also owns.
The TikTok account of Christopher Gifford has over 460000 followers. His posts claim he has a 7-foot zebra cobra.
