There's a new OLED TV contender in town – the Skyworth XC9000.
The Chinese television brand has finally made a foray into the US market with its reasonably-priced XC9300 model, and anyone looking for an affordable OLED screen in this day and age will likely be paying attention.
Costing just $1,399 for a 55-inch size, and coming in a larger 65-inch option, the Skyworth OLED is certainly priced on a par with screens like the Vizio OLED or LG B1 – though before the screen is widely reviewed it's going to be hard to say whether it can compete in performance. The manufacturer also announced the launch of the Skyworth A20 Pro, a 4K 120Hz flicker-free TV with an ADS panel featuring the flagship SoC, and the G90, a 4K OLED gaming monitor specifically designed to meet the needs of gaming enthusiasts.
Tony Wang, Chairman of Skyworth TV said, “At Skyworth, we are proud of our latest product innovations and our continued commitment to delivering breakthroughs in picture and audio quality. Skyworth’s TV business saw considerable growth in the first half of 2021; we recorded a YoY increase in global sales revenue of 33.1%, with overseas sales revenue recording an impressive YoY rise of 68%. We are thrilled to see our portfolio of products welcomed and recognised by global consumers and we cannot wait for our customers around the world to experience our latest range of advanced home entertainment solutions.”
It is powered by the flagship 8K SoC integrating a multi-core CPU, GPU, and a dedicated AI processing unit (APU).
Meanwhile, the Skyworth A20 Pro features a 4K 120Hz LCD TV with an ADS panel. It also has Skyworth AI Picture Quality Engine 4K version, MEMC (motion estimate and motion compensation), a VRR, eye care mode, JBL cinematic sound effects, Dolby Atmos. For connectivity, it has HDMI 2.1 and Wi-Fi 6.
On the other hand, the Skyqorth Q72 adopts CoG (chip-on-glass) MiniLED technology, featuring 20,736 backlights across 2,304 zones to enhance local dimming. It is also equipped with Active Matrix Addressing that enables each dimming zone to be controlled by an independent IC (integrated circuit).
The Skyworth Q72 also features the new Skyworth Super Original Colors technology which supports 115 percent DCI-P3 and 10bit color depth presenting to enable display in producing over 1 billion colors for a better viewing experience.
For audio, the Q72 boasts Skyworth Audio Speaker System 2.1.2. It packs two front-firing audio channels, two upward-firing audio channels, and one external wireless subwoofer. It also comes with Dolby Atmos and DTS:X.
Skyworth presented a total of five models at their event, whereby the TC6200 is an FHD TV, which is why we will not discuss it further.
UC6200, UC7500, UC8500, and UC9300 are all 4K TVs that were equipped with different panels. skyworth 4k oled tv , UC9300, uses an OLED panel and has the Chameleon Extreme P2.0 engine chipset, which provides Skyworth with the best image processing.
The other models are equipped with an LED-LCD panel, although it is only known that the UC6200 uses a VA panel. The biggest innovation is probably Skyworth’s AIoT approach to be able to achieve a high degree of connectivity. It is comparatively similar to Samsung SmartThings and ensures that the TV can become a center for all smart home applications, from which they can be controlled.
The event talks about the XC9300 and UC8500 models with ALLM, VRR and 120Hz panel, which sounds very much like HDMI 2.1 at first and thus appears to be excellent for next gen gaming.
But unfortunately, the interface is an HDMI 2.0b connection. Thus, VRR is not available at 4K@120Hz, but only at 4K@60Hz or at 1080p@120Hz, which is supported on the Xbox One X.
