North Raleigh's days-long search for a venomous zebra cobra ends with a glue trap.
Following many hours of consultation and preparation by Animal Control officers, in the end a glue trap captured a venomous zebra cobra on a north Raleigh porch, a 48-hour incident that generated nationwide interest.
A red bucket was used to guide the cobra into a safe location where all glue could be removed from its body.
Earlier in the day, WRAL's cameras caught the snake crawling out of a siding onto a porch on Sandringham Drive. Looking around, its hood was visible as it lifted its head.
Camera crews had to be redirected after Animal Control officers confirmed it was a snake before moving in to try to capture it.
911 call from that same house sparked the search at the beginning of Tuesday.

The ordeal has ended, said Joan Nelson, her neighbor.
'I feel very safe now,' she said. It feels as if I can now go outside and enjoy the scenery. The snake, though, must have felt bad.
There has been a missing zebra cobra in a north Raleigh neighborhood where a striped snake is laying out on a porch.
Zebra cobras are fast, can spit up to nine feet, and can spit at high speeds, making even morning dog walks dangerous. Apparently, African Snakebite Institute believes the snake is very dangerous. It is possible for the venom to cause a victim's nervous system to shut down.
Cobra poison causes immediate pain, swelling, irritation, vomiting, and diarrhea. A severe fever and breathing issues could cause respiratory failure.
An experienced veterinarian, Dr. Salina Locke, treats all kinds of pets at the Avian and Exotic Animal Care.
Cobras of this type are rarely known to bite. The venom sprays more readily, since it is so accurate. they aim right for the eyes, she said.
Despite the risks associated with this snake, Locke does not recommend it as a pet.
Bite incidents are most common during sleep. Research shows that people who are bit may suffer health issues for years.
In the late afternoon on Tuesday, police searched 6917 Chamonix Place, near the place where the snake was last spotted.
In March, there was an issue with the animals at that home. The zebra cobra was found about a half mile away on Monday and Tuesday.
The records of the county show Rebecca and Keith Gifford live at the address. The Facebook page containing Keith Gifford's name contains several photos of snakes that he claims to own.
Christopher Gifford has over 460000 followers on TikTok. His posts claim he has a 7-foot zebra cobra.
