I am writing to apply for the Bachelor of Arts(Honours) in Applied and Media Arts in PolyU SPEED. I always appreciate Arts and Design because we can use it as a medium to present different special messages in the form of distinctive images, forms, lines and colours to the audiences. Having a faith that arts can be applied to our daily lives and improve our quality of life eventually, I would like to become a professional graphic designer in the future. If I were given a chance to study in Applied and Media Art, it would prepare my future career to become a graphic designer.
Since I was young, I believe that Arts and Design is a visual and artistic form of communication which can bring me delights, meaningfulness and introspection. It makes me strongly engaged to my art activities. Since my primary school life, I have been studying in Visual Arts. I have participated in different competitions and activities inside and outside school so as to obtain more experiences in the area of arts. When I was in secondary school, I have chosen Visual Arts as my electives and I have learnt more about the history, techniques and applications of Visual Arts such as drawing, painting, and producing three-dimensional works like paper-cutting, carving and sculpture-making. Owing to the frequent contact with Visual Arts, I have enhanced my sense of arts and learnt to appreciate Visual Arts. When I was attending Hong Kong Design Institute, I have studied about Product, Interior and Exhibition Design in the first year. After that, I have studied about Jewelry Design for two years in order to learn some ingenious design skills and craft. Through those practical sessions in the workshop at school, I have gained some concentration, discreetness and observation, which are the compulsory elements for being a good designer. Taking courses of Jewelry Design, I have developed a strong interest in different culture of arts, Graphic Design, Interactive Media and Contemporary Design as I have been reinforced my intellection of arts and culture. Moreover, in order to cope with the progressive society, I have taken some computer courses outside school to learn about the use of graphical software which are useful for design purposes. I realized that I am very fully immersed in the field of Arts and Design.
On the other hand, I am keen on music, so I have become a choir member from primary to secondary schools which equips me with diversified artistic quality. Also, I have taken up the posts of assistant section leader of senior choir, class treasurer and tour guide. I have gained some patience, leadership, team-spirit, responsibility, communication and management skills, which are believed to be indispensable elements for being a designer. Besides, high creativity and curiosity are the most obvious personalities of mine, which are also some important elements of designer. In order to strengthen my creativity and sense, I often spend my spare time drawing comics, reading novels and reference books of visual artworks.

Having the sense and technical skills in Graphic Design, I have learnt to apply them in my jobs to improve the living standards and values of the society. After my graduation, I have become a graphic artist of a publisher and also a freelance designer who designs logos and posters for the customers of the online shop. I found the importance in strengthening my sense of arts and technical skills, and therefore, I have decided to continue my study in Applied and Media Arts.
It would be my privilege to study in this reputed university as she gets comfortable environment and well-equipped facilities for studying. I hope you can consider my application for the Bachelor of Arts in Applied and Media Arts in PolyU SPEED, as I am wholeheartedly interested in studying Bachelor of Arts(Honours) in Applied and Media Arts.
